NEWS: New Nachos Make Jack in the Box Look Like Jose in the Box

Written by | January 31, 2009

First off, I have to admit that I’m not a fan of Jack in the Box tacos. There are people out there who swear by them, but its oil-soaked taco shell won’t appeal to me until I can go all Willie Nelson on my Toyota Corolla’s ass and turn it into a biofuel vehicle that I can fill up by wringing the oil from those greasy Jack in the Box tacos.

But for those of you who <3 their tacos, Jack in the Box recently introduced their Taco Nachos, which is basically their tacos cut in half topped with a cheddar cheese sauce, pepper jack cheese and jalapeno slices served with salsa on the side. Nutrition values weren’t on the Jack in the Box website yet, but using the values from two regular beef tacos, the Taco Nachos will have more than 320 calories, 16 grams of fat, 2 grams of trans fat, and 540 milligrams of sodium. The Taco Nachos are available at the suggested price of $1.99.

    That’s absolutely horrendous! I used to save up my allowance for those little bastards when I was a kid living in the south. Thank god I can’t get them here, I’d be so overweight, haha. Goddamn you taco bell, discontinuing your volcano tacos. THEY LOST A GREAT CUSTOMER.

  2. Bob says:

    Good lord that looks horrendous.

  3. Molly says:

    I hate Taco Bell, but I love Jack’s monster tacos. That new dish actually looks really appetizing to me… Should I eat that for breakfast tomorrow morning?

  4. Pomai says:

    Now THIS is really a Taco Town moment.

    I’m so tempted to take that and wrap it in a pizza, the wrap it in a blueberry pancake, and then deep fry it, the stuff it in a commemorative JITB tote bag filled with Buttermilk dressing. God, that would rock.

    I got them the first day they came out, since I love the tacos and this sounded and looked delicious to me. It’s two tacos cut in thirds with very bland cheese on top. Why didn’t they use nacho cheese at least? I didn’t notice any pepperjack cheese. I had 3 jalapeno slices on mine. So all in all, very dissappointing and I won’t be getting them again unless I’m very drunk.

    That looks… awful :(

    @Michelle – a lot of people seem to be missing the Volcano Taco. I say you get a petition going to bring back the volcano taco for good. I would sign that.

    @Bob – Bad for most people, but great for product review bloggers.

    @Molly – You can order it any time of day, so why not.

    @Pomai – TACO TOWN!

    @Shep – I think it would be better if you just made your own. Buy some of the Jack-in-the-Box tacos, cut them into thirds, add your own cheese and fresh jalapenos, and some salsa and I’m sure it will taste much better.

    @Heidi – Awfully reviewable!
