NEWS: Ben & Jerry’s Latest Flavors Causes Sweet Tooths to Rejoice and Nut Allergy Sufferers to Shake Their Fists in Anger

Ben & Jerry’s recently introduced two new flavors to their lineup of creamy creations: the creatively named Mission to Marzipan and the unimaginative Chocolate Macadamia, which a Chunky Monkey armed with a typewriter could’ve named. Both flavors contain nuts in some shape or form.

The Mission to Marzipan flavor is made up of sweet cream ice cream with almond cookies and a Marzipan swirl. Marzipan is a sweet, yellowish paste of ground almonds, sugar, and egg whites. And knowing what it is will impress your foodie friends. The Chocolate Macadamia consists of chocolate and vanilla ice creams with fudge covered macadamia nuts. While Mission to Marzipan has the creative name, the Chocolate Macadamia can brag about the fact that its macadamias, cocoa and vanilla are Fair Trade-certified.

The Mission to Marzipan has 260 calories, 13 grams of fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 32 grams of carbs and 25 grams of sugar per 1/2 cup serving. The Chocolate Macadamia has 270 calories, 18 grams of fat, 12 grams of saturated fat, 25 grams of carbs and 22 grams of sugar per serving.

  1. I love Marzipan!! I recently had this flavor while enjoying a Ritter Sport chocolate bar while in Germany. This flavor is awesome! I can’t wait to get back stateside to try it in ice cream form. Thanks ben and jerry’s! Another way to get me fatter. lol

  2. FUUUUUUUUUU
Why don’t we have the Marzipan flavour in England? We have Macadamia but that’s so boring, I could totally cry now. Thanks man.

  3. Kinda makes me wonder how infuriated the nut-allergy sufferers will go? Do you think they will sortie and start a blade-war at the Ben and Jerry’s R&D lab Marvo? Can you hear the sound of blades clashing and Mele fighting? No? What was that?! I believe it was the sound of Good Eatin’ in progress!

  4. Just when I’d convinced myself I was never going to buy ice cream at the store again . . . friggin’ marzipan. 🙁

  5. I love marzipan, and want to try this stuff. However, whenever I come across marzipan, I keep thinking of the Sailor Moon Supers movie where the bad guy lived in a castle made of marzipan, and kept a group of transvestite fairy/bird henchmen who threw bon bons that turned into giant, giggling, attacking babies.

  6. Ice cream with marzipan?? Ehh, I think it will be a grainy, unappetizing addition to an otherwise delicious ice cream, like having a swirl of just got home from the beach toejam added in.

  7. Bewail is only a transitive verb, meaning it must take an object. You can bewail the addition of marzipan (which is gross) or you can bewail your tree nut allergy, but you can’t just generally bewail.

  8. @amanda: Ben & Jerry’s = fat

@Rachel: Um…you’re welcome. But you’ll thank me when you’re still able to fit into your jeans.

@Heather: Dang. I’ve never had marzipan. It sounds awesome.

@Woodenhand: It doesn’t matter since the Ben & Jerry’s R&D lab is filled with nuts, which will prevent any wars.

@Rachel: Yes, you should be able to find them wherever they sell Ben & Jerry’s.

@EpicPhallus: I obviously like it too.

@Jacki: I hope you found it.

    @theGrit: Fuckin’ marzipan.

@Rowen: Oh, that was a movie. I thought you were able to see my dreams.

@Leanne: Well I shall try it and get fat off of it.

@AM: I believe I have made my English teachers cry once again because of my error.

  9. I am an English teacher (a young hot one! I always have to add that). But it’s okay, I still like you.

  10. I picked some up of the Mission to Marzipan last night. It’s not as good as I thought it would be mostly because there are too many almond cookie pieces in it and not enough marizpan. But I still ate it, and it was still good.

Sorry . . . not to encroach on your turf, Marvo.

  11. @AM: I might’ve ended up being an English teacher, but both my parents were teachers and they told me not to be a teacher. I guess they expect greater things from me.

@JamieSusan: I’ve never had marzipan, but it does sound like something Indiana Jones is looking for.

@theGrit: Feel free to voice your opinion about it. I may not review it, so it’s good to hear what people think.
