NEWS: KFC Blows The Opportunity To Have An Awesome April Fool’s Prank with Their New Kentucky Grilled Chicken

If Kentucky Fried Chicken (aka KFC if you’re nasty) introduced their new Kentucky Grilled Chicken thirteen days earlier on April Fool’s Day it would’ve blew my mind because I wouldn’t know if it was real or not and I’m sure others would’ve thought the same way, which might’ve created a viral buzz throughout the internets, causing people to tweet, blog, vlog and other techie words that have only been created within the past five years. Instead they release it on April 14, which is known as Not April Fool’s Day.

The Kentucky Grilled Chicken is marinated and seasoned with a blend of six secret herbs and spices and slow-grilled. Because of its use of a particular blend of spices and custom-designed ovens it’s being called by KFC, the second secret recipe. Pieces of the new chicken will have between 70 to 180 calories and four to nine grams of fat. Their original recipe chicken has between 130 to 360 calories and 8 to 24 grams of fat.

The Kentucky Grilled Chicken is available in KFC stores nationwide beginning today.

  1. I haven’t been into a KFC for ages but just this last Saturday I tagged along with my brother and the counter guy told us this was going to be coming. I was blown away…I’m a pretty healthy eater and can never get anything at KFC…maybe I can eat there some times now.

  2. Actually, last year, Pizza Hut sent out their e-mail for “Pasta Hut” on April Fool’s Day… I laughed at it until I realized their new pasta dish menu was real and they were serious. 🙁

  3. I’m still a bit miffed that I can’t find any KFC (I’m nasty!) around here that serve the mac and cheese side dish. Still though there is somthing amazingly satisfying about eating fried chicken…. two great things great togeather! Fried Food + Chicken = Good Eatin’! I’m going to have to try the new grill remix, who knows I might even be nasty enough to call it KGC (kentucky grilled!)

  4. The pic of the new chicken looks like dog treats…hopefully they will taste better than that.

  5. A few years back they had tenderroast, which was delicious, who knows, maybe this will be good too.

  6. WOW this chicken looks like poopy in the painties.
I trust no chicken that is not breaded and fried.
I believe KFC has lost their minds.

  7. Tenderroast! Is that what that was called? I was talking with someone about the “non-breaded kind” that KFC used to have. I liked that crap.

  8. @Bear Silber: I would be a healthy eater too if I owned a pizza place.

@Heidi: Wouldn’t it have been funny if they sent out another email this year that say, “HA! HA! We got you! You thought we were selling pasta, but we were selling pizzas with a hallucinogen to make you think you were eating pasta, but you were really eating pizza!”

@Woodenhand: I’m also upset that no KFCs here sell the mac and cheese side dish. I’m sick of mashed potatoes and cole slaw.

@amanda: Well technically you can give them to a dog as a treat. Much better than Milkbones.

@o-easy: I think the grill marks are the most disturbing thing about it. They look so unnatural.

@Alli: I miss tenderroast. I hope this will make up for it.

@Neil the hammer: You’re right. I don’t trust Foghorn Leghorn unless he’s breaded and fried.

    @Michael B: I liked it too.

  9. Horrible. Dry and over-spiced. Don’t know if our KFC cooked it too long or what, but it looked dehydrated. Ew.

  10. It was good. Just peeled off the skin, put some hot sauce on it and BAM, tons of lean protein, not a lot of calories.

    Not bad for KFC.

  11. @Heidi: All the best ones are.

@sns: Sorry to hear about your experience. I finally got to try it the other day and thought it was pretty good.

@Nick: But the skin has all the flavor goodness. Mmm…skin.
