NEWS: Kellogg’s Adds Honey To Corn Flakes To Make Them Slightly Less Damn Boring

When I want to express how boring something is, I occasionally use the phrase, “It’s like watching paint dry.” But when I want to mix it up, I use the line, “It’s like eating Corn Flakes.” Or, “It’s like watching C-SPAN with the volume turned down.”

Corn Flakes is a cereal I don’t pay attention to in the vast cereal aisle because everything about it is boring. I’m surprised there’s a rooster on the front of the box. Instead I think there should be sheep jumping over a fence, because Corn Flakes are so boring that they make me fall asleep. Recently, Kellogg’s introduced a new Corn Flakes variety with a hint of added sweetness, the Corn Flakes Touch of Honey.

I’m sure the addition of honey will make Corn Flakes a little more interesting, but why has it taken so long for Kellogg’s to do this? Corn Flakes has been around for about a century and only now they’ve come up with this idea? I guess better late than never.

A cup serving of the Corn Flakes Touch of Honey contains 120 calories, 0 grams of fat, 0 milligrams of cholesterol, 220 milligrams of sodium, 50 milligrams of potassium, 27 grams of carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of dietary fiber, 6 grams of sugar, 20 grams other carbohydrates, 2 grams of protein and a bunch of vitamins and minerals.

  1. I watch the NASA Channel for fun, so boring Cornflakes are my friend. You should check out my Cornflakes stash in the pantry….It’s really impressive. Oh yeah….

  2. That’s such a natural progression for a cereal you’re right. I wonder why it took so long. Now it’s only a matter of time until…Chocolate Corn Flakes, Strawberry Corn Flakes, Yogurt Flakes….look at the Special K line.

@Yum Yumky – Really? A stash of Corn Flakes? I gues I can’t blame you…to each their own. I have a stash of the original FiberOne, I love it.

  3. This is very true about how come this concept of new lines of cornflakes hasn’t turned up before. Do you think they will even try to promote the 2 week challenge like Special K???haha

@Bear Sibler- I have the same Fiber One stash!

  4. That doesn’t sound half bad… it’s like when they added honey to the shreddies.. now I don’t have to add a cup of sugar to the bowl 🙂

  5. the most interesting part about this is the “toque de miel”. I am sure that phrase will come in handy on my next trip to Mexico.

  6. These still look pretty boring. With all of the “sexy” flavours on the market a touch of honey is pretty tame.

  7. angry bob doesn’t really need his cereal to be sexy. That’s what hash browns are for.

  8. Hmmm cornflakes are cornflakes, I don’t think honey will really be able to church these up…could be okay though…still I think Imma stick to the cereals that I know and love

  9. I like boring corn flakes and they are cheap i dont like all this added sugar nuts and twigs soybean oil and honey
corn flakes are like the american flag – steady-trustEd- and true like Me

    THAT IS ALL.

  10. The only thing that makes them exciting is the fact that they’re usually the cheapest name brand cereal in the aisle.

And believe it or not, you can actually add your own honey to them–you don’t need to wait for Kellogg’s to do it for you.

Personally, I find the idea of “exciting” cereal to be kind of confusing. What are you looking for? Tons of sugar, fake fruit paste, multiple grains? There are two kinds of cereal. Adult cereal and kids’ cereal. As an adult, I have little interest in putting milk on candy.
