WEEK IN REVIEWS – 7/7/2012

Four Food Groups

Here are a few product reviews posted this week from other blogs we follow.

It’s that time of year again when weird deep fried foods are available at fairs. By the way, I think fairs should be rename to “frieds” because it seems today they’re all about fried food and rides. Trademark! (via That Bootleg Guy)

Must. Not. Laugh. At. Company. Name. Must. Not. Laugh. (via Japanese Snack Reviews)

Some people will eat this burger to get their spicy fix and others will suck on a Sriracha bottle like it contains baby formula. (via Foodette Reviews)

I wonder how many kitty litter boxes they had to squeeze to make a bottle of this. (via Thirsty Dudes)

Simple Pleasures, eh? It contains glyceryl monostearate and tocopherols. Yup, definitely simple. (via Candyblog)

  1. I think “fried” is a good name for the state fairs, particularly because most of the visitors seem to to be fried (it’s always 4:20 somewhere!)

  2. Dude, regarding the “do not laugh” item, Bimbo Bakeries is a humongous international food corporation whose American subsidiary

is now the biggest bakers in the USofA, and whose (recently acquired) brands include Thomas’ English Muffins, Entenmann’s Pastries and Boboli PizzaCrustThingies (also Sara Lee fresh baked goods, which is one reason Sara Lee Corp is renaming itself Hillshire).

But any grocery store in California with a large hispanic clientele has had Bimbo brand bread alongside the Wonder Bread for years.

And since it originated in Mexico, it’s pronounced BEEEM-bo. You wouldn’t pronounce Fritos with a soft i, would you?
