SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 4/19/2013

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Hot Pockets Limited Edition Cuban Style

There are Mexican-style Hot Pockets, Italian-style Hot Pockets, and now there are Cuban-style Hot Pockets. I hope Hot Pockets bastardizes Asian food next. (Spotted by Marvo at Target.)

Glaceau FruitWater

Hey! It looks like Glaceau was inspired by the graphics found in condom instructions. (Spotted by Marvo at Target.)

French's Flavor Infuser

With that pointy tip, I’m not going to call them Flavor Infusers. I’m gonna call them Meat Stabbers. (Spotted by Paige at Kroger.)

Lay's Wavy Roasted Garlic & Sea Salt

Awesome! Chips that possibly give me two ways to annoy those around me. A crunch that everyone can hear if I chew with my mouth open and a flavor everyone can smell if I chew with my mouth open. (Spotted by Adam at Weis Markets.)

Thank you to all the photo contributors! 1. What, no Gangnam Style hot pockets ?
    looks like ham and pickles.

how about kimchi and teriyaki beef ?
    no, not really.
But maybe kimchi and teriyaki beef fried rice.
Hold the caramel colored not so soy sauce.

  2. We tried those Garlic & Salt Lays last night – they’re really good. Definitely not date night food, but kind of sweet like actual roasted garlic (not sugary though).

  3. I found the new Hot Pockets at my local grocery store last weekend, and HAD to have them. I love cuban sandwiches! I got home, and immediately heated them up for me and the wife to try (she also loves cuban sanwiches). I have to admit I was thoroughly impressed, and they were pretty damn good. I was worried it would be a sloppy mess without much flavor, and would especially be missing the hit of mustard. The inside was nice and cheesy, and not messy, and it tasted like the mustard was baked in the bread. Muy Bueno!

  4. COnsidering that I go to Florida once or twice a year to visit family, I have no excuse for never trying an authentic Cuban sandwich. I’ll atone with the faux one for now, especially since Sully said they’re pretty good.

  5. Had the Hot Pockets, surprised how good it was. Don’t think the mustard was baked into the bread but it was part of the sauce.

  6. Wow! I love the idea of Asian-Style Hot Pockets! I already tasted the Mexican-Style and it is really yummy. I am anticipating for a very spicy Asian-Style. Also, I like the photos here. Thanks for sharing!
