SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 8/9/2013

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Starburst Candy Corn

What a great idea! Combining a candy a lot of people love with another candy a lot of people hate to possibly create a candy that’s not so bad. (Spotted by Scott at Star Market.)

Kettle Brand Sweet & Salty Potato Chips

Sweet, salty, and Kettle Brand Chips? That is a ménage à trois my tongue would like to join to make it a foursome. (Spotted by Tammy at Fred Meyer.)

Nabisco Rice Thins

Hey Canada! Thought you were special because you had Rice Thins. Well, you are special no more! (Spotted by Michael at ShopRite.)

Campbell's Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup

“The Taste That Takes You Home”? To be honest, the only chicken noodle soup I ate at home was Campbell’s condensed chicken noodle soup. (Spotted by Marvo at Safeway.)

Duff Zebra and Tie-Dye Premium Cake Mix

These cakes must be super trippy when you’re high. (Spotted by SH at Vons.)

  1. Sweet and Salty potato chips were great.. Sugar and salt are a perfect combination.

At the same time the company also released the Maple Bacon flavor. SOOOOOO much better than the USA Lays limited edition flavor chicken and waffles.

  2. I’m a sucker for limited edition candies. The candy corn MnM’s were great – although the “candy corn” stopped with the smell, really. Then they just tasted like white chocolate. Which was fine with me.

  3. Has anyone in recorded history actually made chicken noodle soup at home?

I’ve only eaten it from cans.

Spam should come out with a homestyle version.

    1. I’ve actually only had canned chicken souplike .. 2x… because it’s overly easy to make and most canned soup is repulsive.

  4. We have to agree with Richard above that Kettle Brand’s new Sweet and Salty potato chips are quite tasty; but we can’t say the same for the Maple Bacon flavor (they just really rubbed us the wrong way – where as Lay’s Chicken and Waffles are still some of our favorites from 2013!). Like we always say, to each their own.

  5. We made the tie-dye cake at home for my husband’s birthday. The consistency was horrible. It was impossible to frost because the entire thing just fell apart. I think we followed the directions; normally we are capable of making cakes from mixes and from scratch….
