SELF Healthy Kitchen Grilled Drunken Chicken

SELF Healthy Kitchen Southwest Style Chicken Enchilada

SELF Healthy Kitchen Three Cheese Lasagna

SELF Healthy Kitchen Garden Chicken Alfredo

Self Magazine has their own all-natural frozen food line! Way to go, Self Magazine publisher Condé Nast. I hope this is the start of more product lines from Condé Nast magazines. Perhaps GQ hair products, Architectural Digest pre-fab houses, Brides wedding dresses, and The New Yorker cover coloring books are in our future. (Spotted by Amanda at Kroger.)

If you’re out shopping and see an interesting new or limited edition product on the shelf, snap a picture of it, and send us an email ([email protected]) with where you found it and “Spotted” in the subject line. If you do so, you might see your picture in our next Spotted on Shelves post.

  1. I actually like this cross-industry involvement. People do not eat up magazines like they use to.
    But.
What would be more fascinating: Seeing frozen dinners from VOGUE magazine or SELF?

From my actual knowledge I actually do possess, the typing is true: Vogue’s frozen food would be a $2,000 meal of organic and grass-fed oxygen from famous chef Ameliaire Dhsudh Gustav.

SELF can do this because it supposedly is more …. Healthcentric.

But would NOT you want to see Vogue do a frozen dinner? Harpers’s Bazaar, straight from the bazaar? What about SELF candy bars. I know,, I know: Not smart.

But I wish companies where more like Lindt 4Q 2013 and just go completely ballistic within their industry with flavor combinations and high/low cross-industrial products. *shrugs*

    Back to work!

    1. I dunno, Julie, every girl I know who reads Vogue seem to subsist exclusively on Diet Coke and Marlboro lights.

  2. so calvin harris is a dj and a chef? wonder if you can rock out while eating those meals by your*self*?

  3. I’m guessing none of you tried these products. It sounded great. I was pleased a black man was the chef. Aside from the lunchables I bought that had gray meat, this was the worst product I’d ever tried. I bought the “3-cheese lasagna”. First off, it was a veggie lasagna, not cheese, which would have been fine except the only veggies were mushrooms and a tiny amount of carrot. I loathe mushrooms. AND even worse, there was almost no cheese. Zero. I doubt there was an ounce of cheese. Just 2 small pieces of pasta with sad looking mushrooms and sauce. Really really awful. This product will fail. Don’t buy and def don’t invest.

  4. I hope you don’t stock up on these for your lunches for the week on impulse. I will never buy one again, it looks great on the packaging but disgusting in real life. I purchased the chicken enchilada. First off after I cooked it and took off the over-wrap there was a ball of something, I thought “a meatball? weird.” then I stuck my fork in it and moved it around “oh beans!” nope, wrong again. It was guacamole that I scraped off and threw in the trash because guac should never look like that. I took my first bite witch consisted of black beans rice and corn (I think?) and it was terrible, it tasted like cardboard. I then started to mix everything up and found a bunch of square red/ orange things, I was about to put one in my mouth to find out whether they were weird tomatoes or carrots when my daughter walked in and announced that my food smelled like dog food “ew mom that looks like dog food too, what are you eating?” That was it for me. I can’t believe I spent $5.00 on that crap, gross!

  5. Self Healthy Kitchen is a prime example of deceptive advertising. The Garden Alfredo Chicken package photo shows lots of veggies (e.g. six mushroom slices. I found 1/4 of one slice). The other veggies were in near non-existence. Very little alfredo and the pasta around the edges were stale as wood.

  6. I am really suprised at these reviews. I tried the drunken chicken and was pleasantly suprised at how good it was and look forward to buying more.
