SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 4/25/2014

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Tombstone Limited Edition Beef Ranchero Pizza

Huh. I thought Tombstone Pizza was dead. I guess my eyes couldn’t notice them among all the DiGiornio Pizza varieties. (Spotted by Troy at Walmart.)

Farm Rich Smokehouse

Back in my day, Farm Rich just made deep fried appetizers. Look at them now with their fancy slow-cooked barbecue products. (Spotted by JJ at Walmart.)

Keebler Club Cornbread Cracker BItes

I wonder if these would go great with butter. (Spotted by Lisa at Dillion’s.)

Hillshire Farm American Craft Sausages

We’ve been covering a lot of new sausages recently. Someone should start a sausage review blog. Oh wait, someone already did. (Spotted by Sylvia at Vons.)

  1. After the food poisoning scare did Farm Rich permanently do away with selling those frozen pizza slice appetizers? I haven’t found them since that time. The new BBQ products look interesting though.

  2. Not sure how I haven’t thought this before- how in the world can a food company think that “Tombstone” is a good name for a line of products? Seriously?

    What is next: “Death Count”?

  3. Marvo,

I noticed this week was heavy on “Spotted on shelves”.

The Keebler crackers looks very dry and bland.

  4. Ohhh.. nice. Those Farm Rich products have non-sauced versions! Hallelujah.

As for the Tombstone pizza back in the 90’s all the commercials were “What do you want on your tombstone?” So.. the name worked.

  5. Tombstone’s limited edition pizzas tend to be pretty good just wish they were always available cause I’m not too crazy about their regular flavors

  6. Tombstone taste like cardboard with tomato sauce on it. And by the way Tombstone is a horrible name for a food stuff…what’s next toilet Hamburgers?

  7. Picked up some of those Hillshire Farms American Craft Garlic and Onion and they were pretty good. Very enjoyable.

  8. at this rate, i can have a bbq every day this summer and never grill the same sausage twice.

  9. The Farm Rich SmokeHouse Dry Rub Smoked Pork is absolutely delicious. Reminds me of the original taste of cuban sandwiches and roast pork served at cuban restaurants in Florida. Love it!!!!!!!!!

  10. The farmrich smoked meat was probably the worst thing I’ve EVER eaten in my entire life. I am NOT a picky eater, but that stuff was inedible!!! Think about making chicken or turkey and then putting it in a ziplock baggie for about a year and a half. It’s hard to explain because most of it was this gritty product with a few “large” chunks of chicken. It was so gritty and it tasted hideous. Save yourself $7!!!! I had the chicken one. I am very surprised that people tasted this and sent it to production.
