REVIEW: Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Cranberries Cereal

Kellogg's Raisin Bran with Cranberries Cereal

You probably have a lot of questions about Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Cranberries Cereal.

Does it come with two scoop of dried cranberries? Or are two scoops of cranberries and two scoops of raisins dumped into each box? Or does it contain one scoop of raisins and one scoop of dried cranberries? Does Mr. Sun on the box realize that his extinction means the extinction of the entire galaxy? Also, if he doesn’t realize it, would he still smile if he did?

I can answer most those questions.

Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Cranberries Cereal has a scoop of raisins and a scoop of dried cranberries. Also, yes.

I wonder why it’s taken so long for Kellogg’s to combine dried cranberries with their bran flakes. I thought they would’ve done it soon after the word “Craisins” came into our snacking vernacular thanks to Ocean Spray. Actually, I didn’t expect them to end up in a new Raisin Bran variety. I thought they would have their own line called Kellogg’s Cran Bran.

Kellogg's Raisin Bran with Cranberries Cereal Closeup

If you love dried cranberries and have Costco-sized bags of Ocean Spray Craisins in every room in your house, including your bathroom and S&M chamber, then this cereal will disappoint. Because, after going through the entire box, I think it smells and tastes like good ol’ regular Raisin Bran.

While eating my first bowl, I thought I might’ve gotten a bad box with nothing but raisins. All the shrived fruit looks the same at arms length in an poorly lit S&M chamber. But a closer inspection with better lighting revealed the reddish dried cranberries, and it looked like there was an equal amount of both fruits. However, the dried cranberries sans milk and bran flakes, didn’t have much flavor or tartness.

So if the cranberries don’t offer any flavor, what do they offer?

I also have an answer for that.

Cranberries are a good source of vitamin E, an antioxidant that regular Kellogg’s Raisin Bran doesn’t have. A serving of Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Cranberries Cereal has 25 percent of your daily recommended intake. So if you want those damn free radicals to get off your damn lawn, this cereal will help.

Overall, if you enjoy Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, need more vitamin E in your diet, and don’t mind that the bran flakes get soggy quicker than a sponge in the rain, then you’ll enjoy Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Cranberries.

  1. How long do you leave your cereal in the milk to get it soggy?? I’ve never had a bowl of Raisin Bran get soggy….

  2. forgot to mention they are using crisp bran flakes instead of toasted bran flakes, they have a milder flavoring to support the overall mild but enjoyable flavor of this cereal. Mmmmm, Craisin Bran. Was tempted to mention/debate on the next Nosh show.

  3. Will have to try this. I usually go for junky non-wheat cereals (Lucky Charms is my secret vice), but sometimes I get an inexplicable craving for raisin bran. I don’t care much for normal raisins but the way they make them in raisin bran is a whole different level. I like the flakes, too, but often save up most of the raisins for the end. I eat the cereal dry. When I was really sick for a long time a few years ago, when I started eating a little again I requested raisin bran and ginger ale. Put the raisin bran in a little jar and slowly ate one small handful periodically. Good eats, even with the weird tastes caused by the antibiotics.

    1. The flakes are different in Raisin Bran with Cranberries. They are much better. I loved Raisin Bran until I tried Craisin Bran as I call them. So deluicious but can’t find them anymore.

  4. I had not heard of this product until I went shopping for cereals. Looked interesting, so I bought it, despite my dislike for Kellogg’s products. Should have listened to my dislikes! Typical of most food advertisements, what you see on the box or in the ad is NOWHERE NEAR WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET! The bowl on the box shows 5 raisins and 6 cranberries, and, of course, by implication, there would be more under the surface. Doesn’t happen. I’m lucky to see even a couple of each in a bowl.

They indicate there’s one scoop of raisins and one of cranberries. On the 13.5oz box I bought, the length of the scoops was ~1.5″. Based on my experience, that’s probably true their ACTUAL SIZE!

  5. I have been eating Kellog’s raisin cranberry cereal for a couple of weeks. Post Raisin was my favorite cereal for most of my life. When this new cereal came to my store, I decided to try it. Knowing Post Raisin Bran flakes can get soggy I would pour small portions of milk in when I ate breakfast, this helps both cereals to stay crisp as you eat them.

  6. I love the new raisin bran cereal with cranberries. But for some reason I can’t find it on the shelves
    anymore. What happened?

  7. I have been eating Raisin Bran since a kid but always needed to add sugar, but with the cranberries I don’t need sugar at all!! Also I love how Crispy the Bran is!! I am definitely a fan!!

  8. I have been eating Raisin Bran with Cranberries forsometime now. The flakes are so much better then regular Raisin Bran. All of a sudden it is nowhere to be found. I am extremely disappointed. Typical, when you find a great product, it goes away.

    1. Since Kellogs got so political during the last presidential election I have to hold my nose to buy it. But Raisin Bran with cranberries is just so good I overlook their political leanings. Taste great but no longer available at any grocery store around me. Why is that?

  9. cranberries are actually a weak source of vitamin E ya jabrone, read the ingredients, they put a mulitvitamin in it
