FAST FOOD NEWS: IHOP Criss-Croissants

IHOP Criss Croissants

IHOP could’ve been like other chains and come out with their own donut-croissant hybrid. But, apparently, IHOP also stands for I Have Other Plans. Instead of a donut-croissant hybrid, IHOP has created a waffle-croissant hybrid — the Criss-Croissants.

They feature croissant dough baked in a waffle iron, then they’re filled with a sweet cream, folded over, and topped with fruit. Criss-Croissants are available in two varieties. Blackberry Lemonade features a waffled croissant filled with lemonade cream and topped with blackberries. Strawberry Rhubarb is a waffled croissant filled with sweet cream cheese and covered with a strawberry rhubarb topping.

Criss-Croissants are available as part of a breakfast combo at participating IHOP restaurants until April 5.

  1. I love seeing Strawberry Rhubarb anything. That is a very delicious understated dessert choice. Too bad IHOP is too far away for me to try this.

    1. Croissafles it is and shall be!

I’d been internally debating the merits of just putting croissant dough in my new wafflemaker (because when you have a wafflemaker, everything looks like a waffle), and now I shall do so. Gleefully. I might try the IHOP ones anyway, too.

  2. I tried both of them today, and they’re technically “compressed croissant” but they had all the goodness of croissant; flakiness, crispiness and buttery flavor.
They’re quite good and I wish they made them as regular items.

  3. The IHOP product looks great, but the TV ad turns me off: exactly what demographic are they aiming for? the guy’s hair is too annoying and the girls appear insipid. Do they think we are all 12 years old?

  4. Had the egg blackberry combo today and it was wonderful! Loved the creamy lemon sauce filling with the blackberries. My mouth is watering just typing this and thinking about the flavor.
