WAYSNACK MACHINE: Cookies-n-Creme Twix

Waysnack Machine is a series that looks back at discontinued junk food.

If I was given the power to bring back one candy bar from the dead, I’d revive Cookies-n-Creme Twix.

It was released in 1990, along with another new Twix variety, Chocolate Fudge, a flavor I totally forgot about until I started doing research on Cookies-n-Creme Twix. I guess I love this Twix so much that it made me blind to other flavors. When it was around, I always chose it over regular Twix. For those of you who weren’t alive yet or too young to remember, it was a Twix that had a chocolate cookie and a cookies and creme filling instead of caramel.

Now I’m one of those weirdos who likes to, occasionally, bite off the caramel layer of a Twix, leaving the cookie without its candy companion. But it was so much more satisfying with Cookies-n-Creme Twix because those cookie bits in the creme had a wonderful crispiness to them.

Cookies n Creme Twix

Cookies-n-Creme Twix wasn’t on the market for very long. The internet tells me it was around for a year, but I feel as if it was around for much longer, maybe the mid-1990s. There’s a Facebook page and online petition dedicated to bringing it back, but there isn’t as large as a demand as there was with recently revived products like Surge, Crispy M&M’s, and French Toast Crunch. So I don’t have high hopes of ever biting off the cookie and creme layer of a Cookies-n-Creme Twix and enjoying the crispiness of those cookie bits ever again.

Do you miss Cookies-n-Creme Twix?

  1. Cookies and Cream Twix were awesome, they were my 2nd favorite, behind only PBMAXX. Thingamajig was another good one

    1. I stopped seeing Thingamajig at walmart a few years ago, damn shame i loved those

  2. Well sign me up .. I’m one of those ‘weirdos’ that eats the caramel too before going back for the cookie. I’ve also been known to kind of nibble off the chocolate from the cookie after taking off the caramel.

  3. They were ok. The ones I really miss are the Twix Java. Sam’s Club or Costco was closing them out so I bought a case, but were sold out when I went back for more (and discontinued shortly thereafter).

  4. I remember a White Chocolate/Mint Twix from 1991/92? But I can’t find anything about it online. I remember it had a silver wrapper with light blue writing on it.

      1. It’s back!!!

I can confirm on my drive back to LA from Northern CA I saw it at several gas stations!

  5. I remember these (and the fudge variety) very well. They were so delicious. I also could have sworn they were around for longer than 1990-1991. I have a very vivid memory of eating them while watching the show “Welcome Freshman” on Nickelodeon. So of course, I had to cross-check wikipedia to see when that show aired….1991. Maybe they really were only around for a year.

  6. Really enjoyed the CnC Twix, and enjoyed the fudge one even more. It was cool to walk into a convenience store and having a great variety of Twix. But, I have a new all-time favorite Twix now, and as long as the gingerbreads come back every Christmas I’ll be happy.

  7. This was absolutely the best candy bar ever made. I loved scraping the creme stuff off the cookie with my teeth! Mars needs to bring it back already, even if it’s just a limited edition.
Us 30 year olds want more short lived crap from our childhood! They can’t keep French Toast Crunch on the shelves around here…

  8. Oh my goodness! I miss Cookies N Cream Twix. I remember it fondly. I might have had the Chocolate Fudge variety as well.

  9. I loved the Twix Java and really wish they would bring it back. I couldn’t find that gingerbread Twix anywhere. I really wanted to try it.

  10. Miss the cookies & creme twix they sold in single one packages they were great! Please twix bring it back!

  11. My childhood favorite candy bars were Alpine White and cookies n creme Twix. I vividly remember saving change so I could buy a cookies n creme Twix whenever my parents went to the gas station, and if these were only sold in 1990 that means I was 6 years old.

  12. Guess what? IT’S BACK!!!

I got mine at Family Dollar and they are sooooooo good! Maybe not old school good, but still very good.

  13. Dreams do come true! My Wrigley’s rep came in yesterday and told me they came out with cookies and cream twix and she had samples. I said I need a sample but I know I love it! It was my favorite as a kid. She said no it’s brand new. Um nope. I didn’t make up a candy bar lol it was my FAVORITE, to Google we go. I told her it had to be between 90 and 92, nailed it!
