SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Hormel Taco Meats (Shredded Beef, Shredded Chicken, and Beef Crumbles)

Hormel Taco Meats (Shredded Beef and Shredded Chicken)

Hormel Taco Meats Beef Crumbles

There’s shredded chicken and shredded beef, but no carnitas? That’s horrible, Hormel! No, that’s Hormelible! (Spotted by Kevin at Walmart.)

  1. I actually got the beef ones over the weekend- will keep posted on craptasticness vs. savory-ocity

  2. Haven’t seen these in Ohio yet! Kroger quit selling the yellow tubs of Chi-Chis taco meat so I really hope I can find this somewhere. What state did you find this in? The beef crumbles sound really good!

  3. @ Darrell, I found them at Super Walmart in the front of the store by the grab and go deli stuff. Hope that helps!

  4. So I actually made the beef shredded variety last night and put it in some enchiladas- gotta be honest- the original Hormel steam pack beef roast is actually leaps and bounds more tender- just microwave in the steam pack and throw on a toasted taco shell and accoutrements, and it’s way better- they didn’t even need to make this line of meat if you want my opinion.

  5. We have the shredded PORK taco meat (somewhat like carnitas) at Meijer’s here in MI. Bought one because I was curious and the ingredients list was rather short. This was actually really delicious for a quick and easy filling for tacos. Just heat up, chop some onions, cilantro and put inside corn tortillas…if you want, I guess you can fry them further in a pan to have the meat crisp up like carnitas.

Will definitely try the other varieties. This coming from someone that prefers to cook almost everything from scratch.

  6. Tried the pulled pork tonight. Gray color, not a lot of taste, and so much gristle I can’t figure out what part of the pig they used. Definitely a no-go for me.

  7. Got the chicken, mixed it with a can of hatch green chilis, sour cream, cilantro and grated cheese; mixed it all together; spoon into flour tortillas; rolled them up; placed them in a baking dish with a little bit of enchilada sauce on the bottom of the dish; rest on top; sprinkle cheese and cilantro on top; bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. so yummy…
