  1. Someone tell me why a cup of green tea that has fruit juice in it needs an additional 33g of sugar. That’s absurd.

    1. Thats just what i was reading ,, i was like not bad taste , until i seen 33 GR OF SUGAR !!! I might aa well had a kids juice box ;-/

    2. Because there is natural sugar in fruit. A banana has 44 carbs. of sugar. There is fruit puree in these =sugar=carbs

  2. Exactly, I agree with Dennis. This could have been so good as a healthier alternative to diet soda. Wish it was similar to the fruit enhanced teas i love at Panera that have minimal to no calories. Maybe I’m dreaming of an unattainable product from somewhere like a fast food place but if anyone can do it, Wendy’s I know you can start that trend (hint , hint, wink, wink @Wendy’s).

  3. While I realize I’m bitching to a news post and not to Wendy’s, I gotta say, can’t they just offer unsweetened green tea? I mean, I understand that I could make it for pennies at home, but I hate when I just want some tea and the only options are sweetened or fruit-flavored.

  4. Tried it yesterday, I don’t know if they made it wrong or what, but mine tasted like lightly flavored, unsweetened tea. It wasn’t bad and not nearly as sweet as expected. I sorta think they did it wrong, but I was fine with that.

    1. Made this tea today (I work at Wendy’s) exactly how we were supposed to. The flavor is very light and not very sweet. It smelled delicious while it was brewing, but personally was let down when tasting it!

    2. That happened to me, what the girl told me as I went back was they had it sitting waiting for the person in front of me and my order to get done. So it just sits there in the heat and the ice melts and therefore the tea gets watery. The other one, when going back was awesome! I love it, but the 33 grams of sugar worries me!

    3. I agree with you that I was surprised at how Unsweetened it was, I was expecting it to be too sweet, but I liked it the way it was and was shocked to find that there is 30 grams of sugar. Trying so hard to get away from aspartame and diet soda

      1. I won’t be buying it again unless they have sugarless. Sugar is what America’s problem is with obesity. Cut out sugar you will lose weight. Aspartame is poison, thought I had found a healthy alternative. Please Wendy’s give us an alternative with offering unsweetened green tea. Unless you want to sweeten it with organic Stevia, that would be awesome.

  5. I love this tea!!!!!! Except I’m dissapointed that they are charging MORE for the beverage than the regular soda/black tea charge.

And I agree that although the “touch of sweetness” is nice And way less sweet that regular sweet tea, they could still get away with cutting the sugar in HALF (hey, that would make it cheaper also! It’s win win!)

  6. I love this driver and am sad I can not buy it in a can at the grocery store. I call it Crack in a cup. I think.130 calories In a large is really amazing. Wendy’s large is like sonics route 44 it is Huge! If you don’t like it don’t drink it. It’s perfect so I’m guessing without the extra sugar it wasn’t perfect. I normally drink unsweetened tea so this is unusual for me.

  7. The tea tastes refreshing. It does make one wonder about the sugar content. Very disappointed by the 33 grams of sugar. If you are drinking green tea you are trying to do better. In this case NOT! I could have enjoyed a soda which I have given up.

  8. Okay, so this may be a really stupid question, but does anyone have any idea how I can get the same taste of this tea at home without all that nasty sugar? I’m picking my brain, but I could use some help before buying a bunch of things and trying them 🙂 thanks. Also, the tea is delicious! Would be way better with like half the sugar though.

    1. Green tea bags, mango and pineapple juice to taste, Stevie instead of cane sugar

  9. I typically do not like green tea but this tastes great! It doesn’t have a sweet taste like regular sweet tea. Best drink that I have gotten at any fast food restaurant.

    1. I totally agree. I can’t get enough of this tea and wish it was packaged for home sale. Although it tastes lightly sweetened, the reported 33 grams of sugar is significant for me because I have diabetes. I hope Wendy’s finds a way to remedy this in the future or I will have to give up drinking it.

  10. Love this stuff! I’m already addicted to it and have gotten it three times in as many days.

With regard to the sugar content, that’s for a large, which is freaking HUGE and way too much for a normal person. Seriously, you can barely hold a large in one hand. The medium is what I usually get and has way fewer grams of sugar.

Honest Tea is supposed to be lightly sweetened. Yes, it’s supposed to taste like that. It’s not supposed to be liquid candy like most other sweet teas. The price is more than reasonable — you get way more tea per ounce than in bottled Honest Tea.

  11. Like, to put it in perspective, a large Coke at Wendy’s has 88 grams of sugar and 320 calories! You shouldn’t be getting a large, but if you do, the tropical green tea is a way waaaaaaay better choice.

  12. I love it and I’m shocked by the sugar content. It doesn’t taste very sweet or fruity at all. You actually taste the tea.

  13. Was not happy with the high content of sugar. Organic cane sugar is not any better or don’t sweeten it with no sugar at all. Why can’t it be sweetened with stevia or use organic pineapple and mango juice.

  14. raw stevia is the way to go. Really liked this drink but decided to check sugar content after seeing dentist today. Waaaay too much sugar. Going to see if I can find a copycat recipe using tea, fruit, and stevia.

  15. I can’t go a day without it. Better than getting your “water” quota. It tastes like “flowers”. I know, sounds funny. I too wish there wasn’t 33 grams of sugar. Just put Splenda in it (and less of it). It can still be “less sweet” than it is. Good job.

  16. The Fruit Tea is hit or miss, depends on who makes it. The last one I had will be my last. It was watery and warm. The tea isn’t chilled and makes the ice melt quickly and results in a very weak drink. The first one I had was wonderful but have gone down hill. Plus the calorie count is high and the sugar is crazy!!!

  17. All you people complaining about sugar is why you all are fat probably. There is fruit puree in these, fruit =sugar=carbs. A banana has 44g of carbs from sugar and not because it’s added. The plain tea one has cane sugar which isn’t that bad for you. Please tell me people aren’t this dumb.

  18. I love the orange mango, but i have them make it with the sweetened black tea. You could always have the restaurant make it with unsweetened black tea

  19. So many silly comments. 33 grams of sugar is tiny in comparison to a soda of the same size. It’s more than 50% less sugar, PLUS (more importantly) it’s the type of sugar that matters. Organic sucrose, compared to HFCS. Plus, the 33g is only for a LARGE, which is massive and probably too much drink for any of us. If you get the medium (which is still huge) it’s 30g, and the small is only 16g of sugar.

I tried a medium and it was almost too much to drink. And, it was also delicious. 🙂

My favorite Honest Tea flavor yet, and I’ve tried them all, going back to 2006.

  20. Tried the tea & certainly a better alternative to soda, BUT…sugar is sugar. I’ve lost a lot of weight on the “good sugar diet”…said no one ever. The 3rd ingredient in their hamburger bun is HFCS. Just sayin. The tea is certainly better than soda.

  21. I love this tea and will continue to purchase every time I go to Wendy’s is a whole lot better for you than a soft drink. If you do not want the sugar get UNSWEETENED tea.

  22. How much caffeine is in this drink, does anyone know? I can’t find it anywhere. I love this tea but I’m pregnant and trying to watch my caffeine consumption.

  23. I used to love green tea but can no longer drink it due to being on Coumadin (warfarin) a blood thinner used to prevent clots and strokes from clots. I was warned under no circumstances to drink green tea while on this medication because it lessens the efficacy of it, in other wotds, people on blood thinners would not be anticoagulation enough to prevent a blood clot. I think restaurants should be REQUIRED TO POST THIS WARNING!! There are warnings on diet cola about children who have an alley to something g I forget, and peanut allergies are everywhere, so why not this??

P.S. sorry for the autocorrect..allergy, not alley and anticoagulaTed not anticoagulation.

  24. I am addicted to this tea!!!!! I love love love it!!!!! I wish I could buy it by the gallon.

  25. I love this tea! Green tea is a favorite and it’s so good for you. The tropical flavor is light and refreshing! I sure hope it’s not seasonal!!! 😉

  26. Tried this tonight for first time. Normally love iced green tea, but found this gross! Tried to give it to a friend but he found it gross as well and we ended up pouring it out. Though I see many above seem to enjoy it, that “hint of mango and pineapple”, natural or not, just tastes disgusting and artificial to me. Just a plain green tea – please!

  27. Just love this tea but the sugar is way too high. Has such a clean taste and doesn’t taste that sweet to have 33 grams of sugar….it’s supposed to be ” lightly” sweetened. Wendy’s; PLEASE FIX THIS.

  28. I really like the Honest Green tea but I won’t be able to drink it any longer due to the 33grams of sugar and 33grams of Carbohydrates. That really is ridiculous amounts.Honest is believed to be a healthier option. But I’m finding that thats just not true. Please remove the cane sugar or lower the amount.Even better replace with something like natural honey that has not been processed.
People need better options.I understand it’s a fast food restaurant. But tea is not a greesy burger. It should be a lot lower then that.
