FAST FOOD NEWS: Burger King A.1. Halloween Whopper

Burger King A 1 Halloween Whopper

Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our review.

Burger King Japan has offered sandwiches with black bun on several occasions. They later sold sandwiches with red and pink buns. This made me green with envy. But now we in the U.S. can also experience a bun that looks like its been taken over by mold thanks to Burger King’s new A.1. Halloween Whopper.

The highlight of the burger is obviously that black bun. But there’s more to it than just its color. The flavor of A.1. Sauce is baked into it. How do you like that, Japan?

In between the black bun there’s a bunch of ingredients that are significantly less exciting — a 1/4 lb flame-grilled beef patty, American cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, pickles, onions, and A.1. Thick and Hearty Sauce.

The burger has 710 calories, 43 grams of fat, 15 grams of saturated fat, 1.5 grams of trans fat, 105 milligrams of cholesterol, 1530 milligrams of sodium, 52 grams of carbohydrates, 13 grams of sugar, and 31 grams of protein.

If you’ve tried it, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

  1. Already had it, on last night…. I thought it was pretty good, the A1 sauce goes well with the Burger 🙂

  2. I had one last might also. It had bacon on it and now I’m disappointed to find out that’s not the standard. It was delicious. The bun is flavored with A 1 so that’s at least where some of its color comes from. Your poop will be as green as a crayon too. So it probably has blue die in it too.

      1. Oddly enough, it’s the Yellow dye in black licorice that results in the green… Black licorice from outside the U.S. doesn’t seem to have such dyes so I don’t know why they use it. Wheat often isn’t a licorice ingredient elsewhere also.

  3. I had one a couple of nights ago. It’s very expensive for what it is. I think it needed some bacon, cheese, and onion rings. Glad to know that my green poop was from this and not some stomach bug.

    1. I’ve had black crackers from Japan that were black because of soy sauce. Definitely no squid ink…. San-J has a black sesame cracker that also is full of black sesame seeds, but the base color of the rice cracker comes from natural soy sauce. They must use more of it than in their brown version. Who knows what the Americans use in this black bun, though. Dyes are such common ingredients here.

  4. Just searched for “burger king halloween green poop” and found this site along with a couple others confirming what I speculated. I had the burger last night. This morning, I was like “hmm, I didn’t eat a ton of salad yesterday. What the heck??” lol

    1. I just had the green poop so googled it to here… And I did have the Black Bun Burger this afternoon.

  5. Whewww thank God, a couple of weeks ago I had internal bleeding and had to be put in hospital that all healed and was doing great until this morning when I dropped the green bomb, sure am glad to hear it was the Halloween Whopper.
