FAST FOOD NEWS: Popeyes Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tenders

Popeyes Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tenders

Earlier this year Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen teamed up with Tabasco to offer Red Stick Chicken. The two have come together once again to create Popeyes Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tenders.

According to Popeyes, the key ingredient for the new menu item is the result of aging Tabasco’s red peppers in white oak barrels for three years, which is then used to marinate the all white meat chicken breast strips. Those chicken strips are then hand-battered, breaded, and fried.

Three Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tenders, Cajun Fries, a buttermilk biscuit, and Popeyes’ new Smok’n Pepper Ranch Dipping Sauce are available at participating Popeyes locations for a limited time for $4.99.

If you’ve tried it, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

  1. Awww, c’mon, I just want my Waffle Chicken Tenders and maple sauce! It’s going on 18 months since they have featured them!

    1. Finally some else!!! I’ve been saying this for months. It was there best selling LTO to my knowledge(they ran out so quick both times in my area) so I don’t know why they aren’t doing it again.

  2. I bought these yesterday to give them a try. These chicken tenders are HOT! Even without the sauce, they have a nice peppery flavor to them followed by a subtle kick in the throat. I’ve always been a fan of Popeye’s tenders, and whenever a new spin is used, I’ll be the first to get it on my dinner roster. I would definitely buy these again, but I enjoy sweet and spicy things more, so I would trade in the sauce for something a little less daring. Probably their sweet heat sauce. If you enjoy spicy things, then these are for you. Score 8/10

  3. They should call these “Red S#*t Chicken” instead. Seriously, the next day I thought I needed to go to the hospital! Thanks Popeyes, for the scare!

  4. I don’t like spicy foods too much but these Pepper Barrel Tenders are awesome. I get them 5 or 6 times a week.
I do agree with a previous post that the Waffle Tenders need to come back. They were the best thing that Popeye’s has ever come out with!
