REVIEW: Nestle Nesquik Protein Plus Vanilla Milk

Nestle Nesquik Protein Plus Vanilla Milk

Protein. We need it for body stuff.

Yeah, I don’t know what body stuff exactly. I have an English degree and got C’s in every class that ends with -ology or -ience.

What I do know is that protein is big. A big money maker. Everywhere you look in the grocery store, companies are putting the stuff into everything they possibly can. And I guess Nesquik Protein Plus Milk, is Nestle’s way to get a little bit of that sweet, sweet protein drink money.

Some of you might be thinking, regular Nesquik is milk so it already has protein. That’s true, but it just has more. According to the bottle, Nesquik Protein Plus has “10% more of the daily value for protein per 8 fl oz than regular Nesquik.” A cup of it has 13 grams of protein, while regular Nesquik has 8 grams.

Wait.

I got C’s in every class that ends with -athematics, but I’m pretty sure the difference between 13 grams and 8 grams is more than 10 percent.

Anyway, this protein enhanced milk gets its protein from the milk and an ingredient called milk protein concentrate. What’s milk protein concentrate? Again, C’s in every class that ends with -ology or -ience.

Nesquik has always been a brand that targets kids. But Nesquik Protein Plus is for adults, or as the bottle says, “For Adults Young At Heart.” But from afar, it looks like any Nesquik bottle. So other adults are going to look at you and think to themselves, “Oh my God, how can you drink that? You’re not lactose intolerant?”

As for its flavor, well, if you’ve had regular vanilla Nesquik milk, you will know what this tastes like. It’s sweet, creamy, it’s better tasting than a vanilla protein powder shake, and I enjoyed drinking it. The added protein doesn’t affect its flavor.

Yes, it does have a good amount of sugar in it (22 grams per serving). But the bottle does say it has “28% less sugar than the leading Protein Enhanced Flavored Milk.” So, there’s that. Although, as we’ve learned earlier, this bottle isn’t good at stating accurate percentages.

But if you want to consume a lot of protein, be young at heart, and satisfy your sweet tooth, this milk is a tasty way to do it.

  1. This protein drink is pretty sweet, but they all are to me. The Nesquik Vanilla keeps me feeling satisfied much longer than my husbands ‘ protein drinks, which don’t taste nearly as good as this one. I will be buying more of these.

    1. Tell him to start eating more healthy & it wont taste near as bad when you swallow.

  2. They’re saying it has 10% more of the Recommended Daily Value of protein, which is 50 grams. 10% of 50 grams, means 5 grams more than regular Nesquik. 13 grams vs. 8 grams.

  3. I’m just curious why when you personally review something recently, you no longer list pros and cons on the bottom?

  4. Marvo, why is it whenever you personally review something lately, you leave out the pros and cons, and in the multiple item Spotted On Shelves posts, you no longer comment on the items?

    1. I’ve been trying out a few things to streamline how I run the site because there are other things I want to do with the site, but can’t because I just don’t have enough time. Although they seem easy to write, coming up with Spotted captions do take up a lot of time. Most of the time it takes 5 minutes or longer to come up with one. I know that seems long, but sometimes an idea takes a long time to come to me. Also, after writing thousands of them over the past three years, I guess you could also say I’m getting a bit burnt out having to produce so many every week. So if I can lighten the load it would be better for me in the long run and I’d really like to use that time and creativity to write more reviews and other features. But I have to admit, looking at those Spotted posts, they look bare without captions.

As for the Pros and Cons, I’m going to start putting them back again in regular reviews. But the quick reviews still won’t get them.

      1. Thanks for answering. Please don’t think I meant it’s overly easy to come up with comments for the items. I know it can be difficult to come up with original thoughts for lots of products day after day. I certainly couldn’t come up with anything remotely interesting for even just one snack. I can understand getting burnt out.

Yeah, that’s basically why I asked, because they do look bare without your commentary, but again, you need to do what works for you.

Regarding the Pros and Cons, I know the Quick Reviews don’t get them, which makes sense. It’s just that the first few times I saw your regular reviews without pros and cons, I thought they were mislabeled Quick Reviews, lol. But I’m glad to hear they’re returning.

If you need to cut back on some things in order to add some other features and do more reviews, I completely understand.

Having said all of that, I just wanted to let you know that this is one of my favorite sites, and I really appreciate all of the time, effort, and heart all of you guys put into this website. This is a cheerful, lighthearted, fun site, and I really enjoy visiting here and reading all of the reviews and posts.

You guys keep doing what you do best.

  5. I was introduced to this at The Perfect 10 race in NJ a couple weeks ago and then last Saturday at the Trent on Half Marathon. I really like it and now I am trying to find it in local stores. I tried both flavors but I like the Vanilla better. Looking to get some more soon. Very tasty, does not leave an after taste in your month. Highly recommend.
