What you’re looking at above is a photo of Panda Express’ new Five Flavor Shrimp.

Oh wait. I’m being told the photo below is the correct photo for Panda Express’ new shrimp entree, while the photo above is of Panda Express’ Pacific Chili Shrimp. My bad.

The Five Flavor Shrimp combines five quality ingredients — marinated shrimp, red bell peppers, onions, green string beans, and a Chinese-inspired umami sauce. According to Brand Eating, the entree is based on gan shao xia, a sweet and sour Shanghainese dish.

  1. Had a sample last night and it was “meh” – a little too sweet and salty, and not really very interesting. The chili one was way better.

  2. Tasted a sample of it and was like, “mmm, this is pretty good!” So I got it as an entree. Considering I usually always get the honey walnut shrimp, this shrimp, with its green beans and red bell peppers, was a fresh new twist. And the sauce was pretty good too! Couldn’t stop raving about it, even after the meal. So glad I tried it!!

    1. I had this new shrimp entree on Friday, March 17. Loved, Loved it. Went back the next day and got it AGAIN. Did I say I loved it!!! Unfortunately I have to travel 45 miles to the nearest Panda Express.

  3. Horrible. I think it has vanilla in the sauce. Really awful combination of flavors.

  4. First time I ate it, though shrimps was spoiled. Tried again today, still terrible taste.must be the strange mix of the 5spices? Tasted awful&off putting.
