FAST FOOD NEWS: KFC Zinger Sandwich

KFC Zinger Sandwich

Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our review.

The Zinger is not a new KFC sandwich.

In fact, it made its debut way back in 1984 in Trinidad and Tobago. But despite it being around for decades and a popular sandwich in more than 120 countries, it never found its way onto the U.S. KFC menu boards — until now.

The Zinger features a spicy 100 percent chicken breast filet, double hand-breaded and fried to a golden brown. It’s topped with lettuce and the Colonel’s mayonnaise on a toasted sesame seed bun.

The new-to-the-U.S. Zinger is available as an individual sandwich or you can get it as part of the Zinger $5 Fill Up combo meal that also includes potato wedges, a medium drink, and chocolate chip cookie.

If you’ve tried it, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

  1. Got one yesterday. Best fast food chicken sandwich on the US market currently, hands down. But needs tomato.

    1. If you think this is good, wait until you try the rest of the world’s zinger. I ordered might zinger in Pakistan…. what a sandwich mate.

  2. It’s not bad, but nothing special either. The bun was dry and not enjoyable. Not even close to as good as Chick-fil-A.

    1. Anxious to try one for a week. Good but not what I expected. Didn’t look like the advertised picture, chicken overflowing the bun… as usual. I will say, your potato wedges actually made the meal. Puts all other fries to shame. Overall impression, deceiving advertising.

That explains why i was so confused at first xD

But it’s quite interesting how the Zinger can sometimes be an “upside-down-zinger”:

That brings us to the question: Wich version is the upside-down version :O
    ^^

    1. That’s what I thought too. Cant find any info on the original though. Its a KFC conspiracy! 😉

  4. Wow can’t believe you’ve not had the Zinger over there – its been here in the UK since forever. I’ll never forget going to KFC in the US for the first time in around 1990 – it was so different – at the time, KFC fries were my favourite and US KFC didn’t even do fries! *shocked child*

  5. KFC actually did have the zinger sandwich in the US, back in the early 2000s… I worked there as a teenager & eventually became general manager of a store; the zinger was one of our most popular menu items. It was made with a breaded chicken filet, lettuce, tomato, & a spicy mayonnaise. (called “zinger sauce”)
This sandwich now is nothing like the original & in my opinion, nowhere near as good!

    1. Correction!! My husband (who also worked at KFC) just reminded me- the original zinger was NOT a breaded filet, it had 3 crispy strips in it & was called the Triple Zinger… Memories!

  6. The Zinger has been in the US off and on for decades. You must have been living under a rock. My family loves them.
