SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 3/7/2014

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Minute Maid Drops Mango Tropical

Minute Maid Drops are “made with fruit juice,” but how much fruit juice? It’s also available in Raspberry Lemonade, Fruit Punch, and Lemonade. (Spotted by Joshua at Walmart.)

evol Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese and Uncured Bacon Mac & Cheese

These new, all natural, gluten free, and pricey bowls of mac & cheese look sooo good. (Spotted by Molly at Whole Foods.)

Saffron Road Beef Bulgogi and Bibimbop wiht Beef

Saffron Road Bibimbop with Tofu

Seeing these Saffron Road frozen Korean cuisine entrees make me wonder if dishes like these are common in the frozen food aisles in South Korean stores, or do they have the same crap we have? (Spotted by Molly at Whole Foods.)

Ocean Spray Greek Yogurt Craisins

Greek Yogurt Craisins? That’s so crazy! Actually, not really. The use of Greek yogurt has seen significant growth over the past few years and will probably be a trend that won’t go away for some time, if at all. So it’s not really crazy, it’s predictable. BOOYAH! (Spotted by Carla at Walmart.)

Hell's Kitchen Lava Cake and Cookie Pie Dessert Mix

I could be wrong, but a cookie pie just doesn’t seem like Hell’s Kitchen fare. (Spotted by Tiffany at Walmart.)

  1. It must be traditional Korean, I mean they totally spelt Bibimbap right… Oh wait, no they didn’t…

    1. I mean, considering the spelling is wildly inconstant from restaurant to restaurant, I don’t think proper Anglicization has much to do with it… That said, those sure don’t look like any bibimbap I’ve ever had.

  2. Peas in mac n cheese?! NASTY!

The liquid drink enhancers trend is booming after MIO came with the idea first.

  3. Have had some of the other EVOL bowls before (available at Target in MN) – Chipotle Chicken Mac & Cheese and Fire Grilled Steak bowls are both very good. Steak bowl has pesto which is kind of a nice twist. They are pricey but can sometimes be found 2 for $6. Will be on lookout for the new smoked gouda one; I’m not a fan of peas in mac & cheese either.
