SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 6/2/2014

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Hostess Blue Raspberry Twinkies

Hostess Strawberry Twinkies

2015 prediction: Star Wars Hostess Extreme Creme Twinkies with blue raspberry and strawberry creme. (Spotted by James at Walmart.)

Kellogg's Limited Edition Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts

I didn’t know Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts were gone. I just thought the stores I visit didn’t carry them anymore. But now they’re back for a limited time and now I want to stack one on top of a Peanut Butter Pop-Tart and then eat the two at the same time. (Spotted by Brian at Walmart.)

Jolly Rancher Lemon Lime Bites

How sour are these? Are they duck face sour? (Spotted by Bree at Target.)

Hillshire Snacking

These are part of the new Hillshire Snacking line. When did grilled chicken become a snack? (Spotted by Amanda at Target.)

Duncan Hines Limited Edition Summer Velvets Cake Mix

Dear Duncan Hines and Brach’s: STOP IT! STOP IT! Enough with the different color velvet cake mixes and candy corn. Other countries are probably making fun of us. (Spotted by Sylvia at Ralphs.)

  1. Granted I’m a fitness buff, but I have eaten leftover chicken as a snack before. Anything to get my protein in!

    1. I eat chicken strips as a snack, the best are the Perdue ones (I like the Southwestern), worst are the Tyson ones (kind of slimy).

Not a lot of confidence in Hillshire, their deli meats are pretty bad.

  2. Are those Cherry Cola Twizzlers next to the Jolly Rancher Bites?!!!! Looks like I’m going to Target tonight.

  3. Love seeing different colors of velvet, this whole red velvet fad needs to end. Either no more or just do all the colors.

  4. I have aunt whose a PR coordinator at Kelloggs and said that They’re bringing out a PB&J flavor Poptart in September and a Banana Bread Poptart around November. So keep your eyes peeled for those.

  5. Strawberry Twinkies – Oh hell yeah.

Grape Pop Tarts – Not in a million years

Sour Jolly Ranchers – Not a big fan of the bag of regular flavors because a couple of them don’t do really well, but going with just the basics lemon and lime here should work great.

    1. Just tried the Hillshire Snaking Sweet Chili Chicken. I don’t like cold chicken (yes, they’re refrigerated) and the package offers directions to those like me the option of 15 secs in the microwave (without the sauce cup).

It wasn’t half bad, actually. I’ve tried and liked the Hillshire Farms cooked marinated chicken breasts before. It’s a better quality chicken than other stuff out there and the sauce had enough kick. Just needed more chicken. I’m a sauce smotherer and I had enough left over for a few more pieces!
