SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Kellogg’s Eggo Breakfast Sandwiches

Kellogg's Eggo Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sandwiches

Kellogg's Eggo Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sandwiches

Before you get excited, let me rain on your parade. Kellogg’s calls it a “soft waffle-style bread,” so it’s bread shaped like waffles and not the Eggo waffles we all know and heat up in our toasters. Bummer.

There’s also a bacon, egg, and cheese version, but not even bacon can turn my frown upside down when it comes to these sandwiches not having actual Eggo waffles.

The sausage version has 290 calories, 17 grams of fat, 6 grams of saturated fat, 510 milligrams of sodium, and 10 grams of protein. The bacon one has 210 calories, 10 grams of fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 550 milligrams of sodium, and 9 grams of protein. And the egg and cheese has 200 calories, 8 grams of fat, 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 470 milligrams of sodium, and 9 grams of protein. (Spotted by Chris at Meijer.)

  1. Pffffft. I’ve been making these at home for years with actual waffles, not waffle-shaped bread. I’ll stick to that, thanks.

  2. Why in the world would they make Eggo sandwiches and not use actual Eggos? I guess maybe they were worried they wouldn’t crisp up enough, but that’s no excuse. Take a cue from Hot Pockets and throw in some crisping sleeves.

  3. hey, author, where did you see find these products? I’m in Manhattan and can’t find them around here. thanks!

  4. FYI, these taste terrible. The bread tastes like whole wheat cardboard. One sandwich had what I’m almost certain was a spot of green mold. And the egg and cheese taste like they’ve spoiled. Very disappointed. I’ve tried these on two separate occasions, two separate packages. Both sick. Sad though. It had such potential.

  5. I like these Eggo sandwiches a lot! Just ate one a minute ago. I eat at the office, so I need stuff that will go in the microwave without spilling everywhere.
These are comparable to Special K’s flatbread frozen sandwiches, but they cost less and have about the same amount of calories while also tasting better. The Eggo part is sweet and the egg part is fine.

  6. I ate one this morning. The taste was fine. The “waffle” bread had a slight maple flavor and cooked up nicely…didn’t dry out like most frozen breads do when reheated in the microwave. The egg was fluffy and moist. The only thing that threw things off a tiny bit was the cheese…not much of it on the sandwich and not as tasty as the bread and egg. Overall, I’d buy it again.

  7. The bread on these were absolutely horrid, would be better if they used eggo waffles for the sandwiches
