Heat your mouth while the rest of your body freezes this winter with Popeyes new Ghost Pepper Wings. The ghost pepper, otherwise known as the bhut jolokia, was once the hottest pepper in the world. But now it’s the third hottest pepper in the world and has made its way into the fast food world.
Popeyes Ghost Pepper Wings aren’t the first ghost pepper product from a major fast food chain. Earlier this year, Jack in the Box came out with a chicken sandwich that used a ghost pepper ranch sauce.
To infuse their wings with ghost pepper flavor, Popeyes marinates them for 12 hours in a blend of peppers that includes the ghost pepper. Then their wingettes and drumettes are battered and breaded in a southern style crispy coating and fried.
Popeyes Ghost Pepper Wings are available now through January 25 at participating locations. You can get six wings with a buttermilk biscuit and buttermilk ranch dipping sauce for $3.99. They are also available as a combo meal or a 12-piece box.
