SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream

Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream (Triple Chocolate and Coffee and Donuts)

Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream (Homemade Vanilla, Salted Caramel Toffee, and Strawberry Lemonade)

The Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream line also includes Warm Spiced Butter Pecan and Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl. Thank goodness these flavors don’t have golf-related names, like Salted Paramel Toffee, Triple Bogey Chocolate, Coffee and Donut Holes, or Strawberry Lemonthegreenade. (Spotted by Jarred at Winn Dixie.)

  1. Jack Nicklaus + Ice cream… why?

“Fans and competitors of Jack Nicklaus knew he had very few weaknesses in his legendary, record-setting golf career. There is, however, one weakness he confesses to off the course—ice cream—and now he’s giving into it and sharing it with the public.”

:eye roll: I’ll be waiting for Ronald Reagan Jelly Beans next.

It’s a Schwan product that’s available at Kroger stores in Ohio (where he’s from) and Winn-Dixie and BI-LO stores in and around Florida (where he lives.) It doesn’t seem like it amounts to much more than any other regional dairy brand putting the picture of the local sports celebrity on the package. A bit like Kemps putting local Minnesota Twin Joe Mauer on their “Grand Slam Monster Cookie” ice cream. At least there they tried to draw a connection with their endorser, even if it is meaningless.

  2. I just saw this at a grocery store in Minnesota. I guess there was such a demand for golfer endorsed ice cream that they’re expanding availability.
