  1. Unfortunately, it’s more than just Sierra Mist under a new name. Saw this at Target the other day, read the ingredients. They used the package redesign to switch back to high fructose corn syrup as the sweetener. Won’t be drinking this anymore.

    1. You nailed it. And whoever whote this article for the website should be reprimanded for poor research. Most often, when a company rebrands a product, the first thing you should look for is what they are REALLY changing. Look beyond the surface and the marketing hype.

    2. Not only did the “new” Mist Twst taste sweeter to me, but it also lost its fizz quickly. I too won’t be drinking this any longer.

    3. Same here! I started drinking Sierra Mist because they weren’t using HFCS, but now that it’s that mist twist crap with the HFCS again I will not buy any of it. I hope they lose a TON of money and bring back the good Sierra Mist.

      1. Agreed. I noticed the difference in taste from the get go. I will definitely find and buy something else now snd hope they bring it back.

    4. I won’t be drinking it anymore either because I don’t mess with high fructose corn syrup. It was given to me free when I bought Lil’ Caesar’s Pizza. I gave the Sierra Mist Soda away…

    5. I agree. The reason I switched to SM because it had no HFCS. It is Greed at its finest. Selling out to trade values, and ethics to save a buck at the expense of people’s health, and well being. It’s okay really, now they can save a lot by not making, or selling any of their products, because I’ll never buy another Pepsi product again.

In all seriousness, Pepsi should just write, “f* your generation” on the labels of all their products. It would better fit their new business model. As far as I’m concerned, Coke and Pepsi can fly a kite.

Recently Papa John’s announced they were getting rid of all HFCS from their menu, but you can still buy soft drinks that have HFCS. And SM was the only beverage they had that didn’t have HFCS. I hope they loose their endorsement deal with PJ’s, and everyone else.

    6. This Mist Twist has HFCS. When will these soda companies learn not to put HFCS in their products! Well, back to my fruit juice. No more soda, again!

    7. Yes, what a bummer! It was my favorite too! It is too sugary sweet now, too much like sprite:-( Sierra Mist was crisp and refreshing:-)

    8. Same here, it totally sucks now and is just like all the other crappy sodas. Guess they don’t adhere to: “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”… well, now it’s broke. ?

  2. Ugh I saw this too and was hoping they just changed the label not the flavor 🙁 Cherry sounds interesting though…. they better still make the cranberry for the holidays though!

  3. Ughhh I saw this the other day too and was hoping they just changed the labels not the flavor. At least cherry sounds interesting but they BETTER still make the cranberry around the holidays!

  4. The cherry sports a rather medicinal aftertaste. It’s drinkable, but not what I’d call enjoyable…

  5. The cherry flavor sneaks in artificial sweetener Sucralose as a supplement to HFCS. I don’t think that’s right if it’s not diet. Diet version uses AceK and Aspartame.

  6. Ugh they ruined Sierra Mist again?

First was the switch to “real” sugar., which I loved. I bought a LOT of this version. Then, the stevia crept in. And now this?

Or is Mist Twist just an extension of that line?

    1. That’s what I initially thought, that it was an extension. My Target has Mist Twst in cans and the most recent Sierra Mist version (with Stevia) in 2-Liter bottles. But, I found out the 2-liters were just old stock they’re trying to get rid of before they replace with new stock of Mist Twst lemon-lime (which is a direct replacement for regular Sierra Mist, albeit with aforementioned HFCS instead of sugar and Stevia)

  7. I don’t like the new formula at all…tastes like a flat, watery, bad lemonade….almost has a “perfume” taste??? Guess I’ll be looking for a new brand. I loved it when it first came out, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!!

  8. I’m going to go against the crowd and say that I really like the new Mist Twst. It tastes a lot like Lemon Lime Slice, which was a lot better than any version of regular Sierra Mist, including the “real sugar” one. Honestly I wasn’t impressed with 7up Retro or Mexican Sprite either, so I might actually prefer HFCS in lemon lime sodas. Colas are a different story.

Didn’t know the cherry version was a thing until I came upon this post. Would be interested in trying it if it came to my area, though I don’t like the trend of putting artificial sweeteners in non-diet soda.

    1. I’m with you – I like Mist Twst – Sierra Mist was my favorite diet lemon lime soda – the diet Mist Twst is still way better than diet Sprite or 7up.

  9. Terrible, terrible, terrible! HFCS? Why go backward? Flat taste, hardly any lemon-lime flavor at all. I might as well just buy carbonated water…WITHOUT the HFCS.
Additionally, the new graphic design and name looks like generic packaging. I walked past this in the store thinking, “That must be the generic version of Sierra Mist”.
Whichever marketing “genius” was paid to make these decisions should be fired.
You just lost a customer who drinks 3 cans a day. Considering how expensive a 12 pack of flavored bubbly water is these days, just think about how much money you’ll be losing if enough of us walk away.

    1. First I thought the same thing that it might be a generic version of Sierra mist…it looks cheap to me I didn’t want to buy it. Then I read the ingredients and I found out it has hfcs , I will not be buying it either. I used to buy it because it had no hfcs. I hope this marketing genius will fail and they will bring the old sierra mist back.

  10. It seems that they should do a better job of advertising this change. I spent the last two weeks trying to find my Sierra mist at various stores and only figured out the new name when I asked a store clerk if they were still selling it. The name change (stupid name btw) along with the packaging change is pretty drastic…I saw it but just figured it was some store or off brand.

  11. What happened to the REAL Sierra Mist? This new one, Mist Twst, has fructose in it! Many people, like myself, cannot have fructose. Sierra Mist was the only soda that did not contain fructose. I’m very disappointed !!!
Bring back the REAL Sierra Mist with real sugar!!!!

  12. I tried the new mist twist tonight because I couldn’t find the usual Sierra Mist when grocery shopping this week. Sierra Mist is my favorite soda. I don’t know what has been changed for the new Mist Twist, but I don’t like it. Why did it have to be altered? I’ll be looking for some packs of diet Sierra Mist and then start buying Sprite instead. It’s disappointing!

  13. The taste is irrelevant…probably a third of their target market will never buy it because of the HFCS. Reception on their own social media sites has been brutal. Pepsi will pull the plug on this within 2 years. Nothing survives long with word of mouth this bad.

  14. No way is Diet Mist Twst a sub for Diet Sierra Mist. The new brand (it appears that the formula has changed)
is different and not for the better.
    You lost another loyal customer!

  15. You had a good thing with serria mist I will not touch the new one as it has high fructose corn syrup in it
that stuff is nasty and ruins the taste of any soda etc, as long as you insist on using that ingredient I will stop drinking pepsi products.

  16. Diet Sierra Mist was my absolute favorite soft drink. I tried this new diet mist twist and it is one of the worst tasting beverages I have ever drank. The taste reminds me of seltzer water with a lemon peel in it. What were you thinking. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL.

  17. My family and I have been a Coke person ever since i can remember and then i found out that Sierra Mist was a better option that sprite, etc. and every morning i would drink the little 7.5 oz can to take my medicine because for one it didn’t have the HFCS but now that they have re-branded and changed it, it tastes horrible…

So Pepsi you screwed it up… keep the name change the name who cares just change it back to the same a Sierra Mist

  18. I tried Mist Twist — horrible taste! Then I learned Pepsi changed the formula — bad decision for Pepsi!

I enjoyed Sierra Mist Natural — the use of Stevia and Potassium Citrate was good for me in preventing kidney stones! Also, I liked the idea of not consuming HFCS.

I guess it is time to learn how to make my own carbonated beverage.

  19. The addition of sucralose in non-diet products is nothing short of INFURIATING. There are so many things I used to love as a kid that I can no longer enjoy because the taste has changed so drastically with the addition of sucralose. Worse yet, unless you read the ingredients you won’t even know it has changed until you’ve opened and tasted the product. There is no diet, low sugar or other such labeling. These products look the same as they always did. So naturally I just bought my usual gallon jug of Hawaiian Punch without reading the label a few years back. What a shock in the flavor change. And then the headaches came.
So now I spend twice as long or longer on my shopping trips because I have to read the ingredients for EVERYTHING I buy because companies have to be so sneaky about this. And it’s not just Mist Twist and Hawaiian Punch. Sunny D, Yoplait yogurt, water enhancers, Tampico Punches, etc. Sucralose has infested practically everything. But the worst part is the deceptive manner in which companies have done it thinking no one would notice.

  20. Twist Mist reminds me of the Walmart Lemon Lime brand Twist Up, which is half the price…..poor marketing.

  21. Thanks for nothing, PepsiCo! The table sugar version of Sierra Mist was a Godsend for those of us with corn allergies.

  22. You did it again Pepsi. Took something good and screwed it up. I found diet mist is tolerable if you mix 1/3 manischewitz Concord grape to 2/3 mist twist. Still not as good as siera. No bite to the new junk.

  23. New Mist Twist is terrible. Switched to Sierra Mist because it was not artificially sweetened and no HFCS. Now looking for a new drink!

  24. I have been drinking sierra mist then twist for tears as a safe clear drink during my kidney disease then kidney transplant. Now they changed it and it tasts like crap with the hfcs instead of real sugar, No more mist twist for me and back to good old water with a slice of lemon.

  25. Sierra Mist was my FAVORITE pop. The new Twist Mist is TERRIBLY HORRIBLE and leaves a bad after taste in your mouth. You really shouldn’t have changed the formula. I drank a can of Sprite because I couldn’t find the Sierra and it tasted like chemicals and couldn’t wait to find my Sierra, only to become very disappointed. With all the other reviews I’ve read, it doesn’t look like I’m the only one who dislikes it. Sure hope you go back to the old formula. Drank the Twist 45 min. ago and the BAD taste is still on my tongue. Bad decision on your part. May never drink an u cola again.—- disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. When Sierra Mist came out it was the best lemon lime soda on the market. Easily beat 7 Up with its inconsistent Kool Aid type taste. Also better than Sprite with its less than predictable taste. But then Sierra Mist started playing with its formula sneaking in new ingredients and calling a chemically processed sweeter that many are intolerant of a natural ingredient- pushing the boundaries of credibility. Pepsico forced me back to Sprite over a year ago- and I have no desire to go back to whatever they decide to calll Sierra Mist.

  27. The only lemon or lime I can taste is the peel. It’s not sweet either. I don’t it’ll change much when it’s cold.

  28. Besides the fact that most corn is now GMO, much less the HFCS crap that they make it into, I will NOT put any of this garbage into my body! What a travesty – take a natural product and bastardize it with GMO GARBAGE! OMG, What are you thinking – oh, pardon me, you ARE NOT THINKING – Someone needs to be fired on this fiasco!
Bye, bye SM and Pepsi co.

  29. This is disgusting. Left such a horrible aftertaste after the first swallow or two, I couldn’t even drink the rest. Came on and looked it up and see 99% are not too happy, either.

Well, ice cold spring water is better for you, anyway. Though I get nausea and it helped to sip this. Had to ruin something good, as usual.

  30. I’m down with all these very telling (and negative) comments. I used to be your best customer, Diet Sierra Mist. Drank at least a six-pack a day. Was I shocked when I couldn’t find it anymore; in a flash, it was off the shelves and nobody told me about it nor consulted my opinion. So then you bring out this train-wreck of a diet soda Everyone posting here and elsewhere seems to hate it.So who was the “improvement” for? The new stuff is flat, freezes too easily in my fridge, has a weird too sweet/non-sweet wobble going on for my palette, and leaves a fuzzy aftertaste like waking up with monkey-breath on your teeth. Need I say more? Bring back the original. I’m dyin’ out here….

  31. Pepsi wants to increase profits by back to using that poison HFCS because the stuff is dirt cheap. HFCS. BOYCOTT THIS DISGUSTING PRODUCT. And be glad you don’t own Pepsi stock. NEVER AGAIN.
