SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Fritos Spicy Jalapeno Corn Chips

Fritos Spicy Jalapeno Corn Chips

Frito-Lay and Taco Bell should coordinate new releases. For example, have a new Taco Bell burrito with the new Fritos Spicy Jalapeño in it. The burrito can promote the chips while the bag can promote the burrito. (Spotted by Geoffrey at Save Mart.)

  1. They’re ok. Just ok. Oddly, both these and the Ranch Fritos seemed super appealing to me, yet when I tried them, it was just kinda… meh. Not sure why. They need to take a tip from the Dipsy Doodles playbook – lots more seasoning. The BBQ and Chili Cheese Doodles are A+.

  2. If these are the same as the limited-edition ones that they sold in 2008 and then again in late 2009, I wouldn’t change anything with them. I’ve actually been waiting seven years to be able to try them again.

  3. OMG my boss just brought a bag in. I was like “No Way!! I’ve been waiting for this day for 8 years!!” LoL

  4. They’re pretty good; maybe not quite the same as the old ones from 2008 and 2009, but not too far off. I seem to remember those as having little green specks on them, and these have little dark-red specks.

Here’s a comparison between the ingredients of the 2008 version and this version, if anyone’s interested. Overall they’re pretty close—the 2008 list adds parentheses after a couple ingredients and lets you know that something specific is included in them (like how chili pepper flavor is one of the natural flavors), where the 2017 one leaves out those parentheses after the same ingredients, so you can’t be sure whether they took out what they specified before.

2008 version: Whole Corn, Vegetable Oil (Contains One or More of the Following: Corn, Soybean and/or Sunflower Oil), Corn, Maltodextrin, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Whey Powder, Dextrose, Spices (including Chili Pepper), Natural Flavors (Including Natural Chili Pepper Flavor), Onion Powder, Sodium Diacetate, Sugar, Sour Cream (Cultured Cream, Nonfat Milk), Modified Corn Starch, Garlic Powder, Jalapeno Pepper Powder, and Artificial Flavors (Including Artificial Green Pepper Flavor).

2017 version: Corn, Corn Oil, Spicy Jalapeno Seasoning (Maltodextrin [made from corn], Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Whey, Dextrose, Spices, Natural Flavors, Onion Powder, Sodium Diacetate, Sugar, Sour Cream [Cultured Cream, Skim Milk], Modified Corn Starch, Sunflower Oil, Canola Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Garlic Powder, Jalapeno Peppers, and Artificial Flavor).

  5. As someone who likes “a little spicy” these are perfect. Everything seems to be either bland or ridiculous hot. For people not into burning off their taste buds, they’re perfect!!!
