SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Heinz Pitmaster Collection 2017

Heinz Pitmaster Collection 2017

The Kansas City one is the only repeat from last year’s collection. There was a Carolina BBQ sauce, but it was a vinegar style sauce. Although I live in Hawaii, I have no idea what that Hawaii sauce tastes like. (Spotted by Josh G at Walmart.)

  1. The Hawaii sauce and the Kansas City sauce are both described as sweet and smoky. Having said that, I’d still be more inclined to use the Hawaii sauce on chicken or pork, and not on steak.

  2. Hawaii will have a big slug of pineapple in it, more than likely. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s fairly similar to SBR.

  3. As drbananahammock already mentioned: If they are not dumb the hawaiian sauce will have the sweet taste of pineapple mixed in the bbq sauce.
Why? ’cause i always said it (especially during the whole hawaii pizza discussion ging on a while a go) Hawaii Pizza get’s awesome if you substitute the “normal” tomato sauce with bbq sauce. It makes a huge difference and is a fantastic pair. 🙂

That said: As John already wrote, it will perfectly fit with Ham ^^

  4. Here’s the ingredients for the Hawaiian BBQ sauce. I gotta say it sounds awesome! I can’t wait til it hits our local store shelves.
Distilled White Vinegar, Cane Sugar, Water, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Tomato Paste, Corn Starch, Blackstrap Molasses, Salt, Soybeans, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Wheat, Natural Flavor, Natural Smoke Flavor, Spices.
