At a quick glance, McDonald’s new Signature Crafted Recipe Bacon Smokehouse Burger could be confused with McDonald’s Signature Crafted Recipe Sweet BBQ Bacon Burger. Both have a 1/4 lb. beef patty, a slice of white cheddar, some sort of crispy onions, Applewood-smoked bacon, and an artisan roll.

But, while the older burger also has BBQ sauce and grilled onion, the newer one has two sauces — bacon onion and a mild sweet mustard sauce. Like all the other Signature Crafted Recipes, you can swap the beef with crispy or grilled chicken.

  1. Got it at my McDonald’s (Tumwater, WA) about a week or so ago. It was good in my opinion – much better than the garlic burger they had recently. Flavors blended well and the new fresh patties are a good addition. Would probably buy again with a coupon.

  2. I found the sweetness of the sauce to be a little overpowering to the other quality ingredients. Also I would have loved some freshness from a bit of lettuce or tomato.

  3. The sweet mustard sauce was quite off-putting, but if they were conservative with the sauce, it tastes good. Otherwise, you might get a huge chunk of sauce and it tastes like Froot Loops to me. I think normal mustard would have worked way better with this.

  4. Was surprisingly good here with the mustard sauce was lightly put on mine to help balance it all out. Was a very good sandwich through and through.
