To be honest, I have no idea what cottage cheese is used for. I’ve just been blindly posting cottage cheese photos all these years without having tried it. Is it actually cheese or is it a Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product, like Velveeta. Is it made in a cottage? I’m sorry I’m so ill-informed about cottage cheese. 1. Cottage Cheese is like a snack with protein. Sometimes people use it for lasagna baking.

  2. Cottage cheese is cheese at it’s most basic level, just intentionally curdled milk with some of the whey removed.

  3. If you stirred a handful of cooked barley (or perhaps couscous, or even quinoa) into plain yogurt, the look and the mouthfeel of the mixture would be similar to cottage cheese. I’ve noticed from the nutrition labels that cottage cheese is surprisingly high in sodium, but I can’t say that there is a noticeable salty taste to it.

  4. I am really picky about what brand I will eat. Most of it has guar gum which makes it thick and gummy. We used to have a local brand that didn’t use guar gum but they went out of business.

  5. It’s like chunky sour cream lol but you can eat it with a spoon. It’s really good with pineapple or tomatoes. Have you had ricotta before? It’s something like that but not as rich?
