SPOTTED: Johnsonville Sausage Strips

Johnsonville Sausage Strips

Bacon and these Sausage Strips are both made with pork. Did Johnsonville produce a sausage slab just so that it can be cut into slices? If that’s the case, why not just make bacon? My head can’t wrap itself around this. Oh, I hope some company out there makes sausages from ground-up bacon. Yeah, it’ll probably be Johnsonville. There are also Spicy and Chorizo Sausage Strips varieties. (Spotted by RaveGyrl at Meijer.)

    1. Yeah, I’m torn between thinking it’s an unholy abomination and wanting to look for it next time I shop.

  1. One of my groceries carries Farmland Pork and Bacon sausage. Doesn’t quite brown up like regular sausage, but it is tasty.

  2. Dear impulsive buy,

Your readers would love you to sample this for us.

    Thanks!

  3. It’s great when you love the flavor of the sausage but love the crispy texture of bacon. This could be a win-win. Should be labeled as Sacon.

  4. I rarely shop in a grocery store that would stock this product but know that I WILL look for it.

  5. When I saw this in the store I thought it was going to taste so good; especially with the maple flavoring. Made it this morning, took 1 bite & spit it out! It tastes horrible!

    1. I agree. I fed the whole package to the dog. I was reminded of spam, but I think spam tastes better than this stuff.

  6. Had this today. Cooks up with very little grease on parchment paper. Doesn’t lose much size either. However the maple flavor never got any further than it smelling like maple when I opened the package, meaning the finished product did not taste of maple at all. Basically this is just head cheese in different packaging.
