Update: We tried them! Click here to read our review.

These look like Hot Pockets, but they’re more like hot pockets without crisping sleeves. (Spotted by Leonard G at Shoprite. Rosemary Garlic Plant-Based Chicken photo taken by me. Del Monte sent me samples.)

  1. It looks like a healthy hot pocket to me. Interesting that they are used plant based meat substitute than actual meat.

    1. Probably beacause they’re called “veggieful” and are trying to appeal to vegetarians, I’m guessing. ALso I have never seen any plant-based “hot pocket” on the market yet.

      1. That’s true! I bet we might see plant based hot pocket someday even using non dairy cheese to make it a completely vegan hot pocket.

        1. Hopefully if this product sells well they will offer vegan options. I’m sure there is a demand for it, if not now then definitely in the future.

  2. Very interesting that they call them “plant based” but also advertise using 100% real cheese. Why replace the meat with a plant based alternative but not the cheese?

    1. Because the biggest market is not vegans. People that won’t eat meat, but will eat cheese and eggs is where the buyers are. My wife is one.

      1. That’s a fair point. I’ve just typically seen “plant based” used to describe someone who doesn’t eat any animal products, but is not committed to a fully vegan lifestyle. It seems strange to me to label something “plant based” and then also use cheese.

        1. I guess you have a different interpretion of what “plant-based” means. I have to agree with Wes, plant-based really just refers to the protein offering, it’s not really claiming vegan.

  3. I’ll take the spinach artichoke and perhaps the rosemary garlic. Can’t wait for a review!

  4. Tofurky has had 100% vegan hot pockets out for a while now. They are just really hard to find.

  5. The Philly cheesesteak ones are good. The other flavors I won’t try because I don’t like what’s in them.
