\"Pepperidge<\/a><\/p>\n

I won a goldfish from the fair when I was ten.\u00a0I was so excited holding him in his bag on the drive home.\u00a0Oh the fun we were gonna have\u2026\u00a0Then, I realized all he did was swim in circles.\u00a0About a month later I had to flush him down the toilet. That was basically the same experience as buying and eating Twisted Grilled Cheese Goldfish Puffs.<\/p>\n

The instant you tear open the bag, you\u2019re met with no smell.\u00a0Seriously, there is barely a hint of a scent from these things.\u00a0I\u2019ve never had a cheese based snack that didn\u2019t have a distinct aroma.\u00a0These smell like cardboard.<\/p>\n

The lack of smell didn\u2019t bother me at first because artificially flavored cheese isn\u2019t exactly my favorite cologne, but then I tasted them and, yeah, we\u2019re just dealing with a bland product here.<\/p>\n

The flavor itself reminded me of Wise Cheez Doodles, only with much less flavor.\u00a0These are the cheese puff equivalent of Fruit Stripe gum.\u00a0The instant you get hit with the cheese flavor, you lose it. The only other sensation I got was a \u201ccorny\u201d aftertaste.\u00a0Not \u201ccorny\u201d like my writing, but \u201ccorny\u201d like \u201cI just ate corn.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll tell you one flavor I never thought of once while eating these \u2013 grilled cheese.\u00a0\u00a0 There\u2019s really nothing \u201cgrilled cheese\u201d about them. I kinda figured you\u2019d get a nice buttery element with the cheese, but nope.\u00a0Nada.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They could have tagged this with any description they wanted and it would have been on par with \u201cTwisted Grilled Cheese.\u201d\u00a0That name is strictly a marketing ploy.\u00a0I was really hoping they would have been more in line with the Flavor Blasted Cheddar Goldfish crackers, but alas, they were just weak cheese doodles.<\/p>\n

\"Pepperidge<\/a><\/p>\n

You\u2019re probably wondering where the \u201ctwist\u201d comes in.\u00a0So am I.\u00a0Each puff has little green sprinkles on them, which I assume are pepper flakes, because there is a small heat element. Very small.\u00a0This of course is backed up by the fact that neither \u201cpepper\u201d nor anything really relating to \u201cpepper\u201d is listed in the ingredients. So…either way, the heat lingers on your tongue longer than the actual cheese flavor.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not all bad though.\u00a0The texture is the saving grace \u2013 on a scale from \u201cfresh puffed Cheeto\u201d to \u201cstale Cap\u2019n Crunch cereal piece,\u201d it definitely lands closer to the former.\u00a0 There is a nice light crisp to each bite, but in time, I could feel them shredding the roof of my mouth.<\/p>\n

And ya know why?\u00a0Because I\u2019m still eating them as I type.\u00a0Here I am, talking about how boring these Goldfish are, yet they\u2019re going down like water…which is ironic because I think Pepperidge Farm\u2019s main reason for shaping their crackers like fish was due to the fact they pair so well with water.\u00a0I\u2019ve never eaten any variety of Goldfish without chugging a bottle of H2O due to excessive salt dehydration.\u00a0These are certainly no different.\u00a0Salt city.<\/p>\n

\"Pepperidge<\/a><\/p>\n

Twisted Grilled Cheese Goldfish Puffs are probably the worst Goldfish product I\u2019ve ever had.\u00a0Not to go all superficial on you guys, but they aren\u2019t even as cute as regular goldfish. They\u2019re fatter and more squished in appearance.\u00a0There\u2019s a certain sadness hidden behind each of those smiles.\u00a0Although to be fair to Twisted Grilled Cheese, the original Cheddar sets an unrealistic standard for Goldfish alike.\u00a0Real Goldfish have curves.<\/p>\n

So, in conclusion, are these better than most puffed cheese snacks?\u00a0No. Are they better than regular cheddar Goldfish crackers? Not even close.<\/p>\n

There are so many cheesy alternatives in the supermarket, there\u2019s almost no reason to buy these unless you are a Goldfish completist.\u00a0Still, I can\u2019t give them a super low score because of their inherent eatability \u2013 which I\u2019m being told is not a word.\u00a0Tomato, tuh-ma-toe.<\/p>\n
