How the Grinch Stole Hostess<\/i><\/p>\n

The Grinch plotted again how to ruin the holidays.
\nThough it was only November and they were still far away!
\nHe planned to steal all the cheer from every household and home.
\nNot a holiday was safe: no Christmas, Kwanzaa, or \u201cshalom.\u201d<\/p>\n

He slunk down each chimney, having his treacherous fun.
\nOnly once did a fire scorch his furry green buns.
\nBut in the last house, whilst piling gifts in his sack,
\nHe smelled something sweet that took him aback.<\/p>\n

\"Hostess<\/a><\/p>\n

Sneering at what the foolish kids had left out for Santa Claus,
\nHe grabbed the strange brown cylinders with his foul, dirty paws.
\n\u201cThese aren\u2019t cookies,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re Peppermint Ho Hos from Hostess!\u201d
\n\u201cWhen it came to minty pink cream, these are said to have the most-est!\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Hostess<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThese snacks are so cheery,\u201d said The Grinch. \u201cI\u2019ll gobble them down!\u201d
\n\u201cWithout their merry Devil\u2019s food cake, all the people will frown!\u201d
\nBut the Grinch gasped at the serving: \u201c380 calories? Who eats three?\u201d
\n\u201cMeh, I deserve it. Being evil makes a Grinch hungry!\u201d<\/p>\n

His yellow teeth broke the chocolate coating; it shattered into bits.
\n\u201cA wonderful mess,\u201d he spewed. \u201cThe maid will throw fits!\u201d
\nBut he found the Ho Ho\u2019s exterior to be much too waxy and bland.
\n\u201cI\u2019d get more chocolate flavor from a brown RoseArt crayon!\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Hostess<\/a><\/p>\n

The sponge cake beneath was also merely so-so.
\nIt was airy and quite chewy, with only traces of cocoa.
\nThe Grinch wondered how it could be so un-sweet with 14 grams of sugar.
\nSome Hostess cakes were moist; this was as dry as his plucked boogers!<\/p>\n

But then he reached the cream, and his opinion did sway.
\n\u201cThis novel pink goo could make anyone\u2019s day!\u201d
\n\u201cIt\u2019s more thick than a Twinkie\u2019s; that whipped crap\u2019s just exhausting.\u201d
\n\u201cThis is pleasantly gritty, rich and dense like buttercream frosting!\u201d<\/p>\n

As for mint flavor, it was there: but not burning or biting.
\nBalanced by vanilla, it was refreshing and exciting!
\nYet, he\u2019d be hard pressed to call it distinctly peppermint<\/i> cuisine.
\nWith his crusty eyes closed, it tasted just like spearmint or wintergreen.<\/p>\n

\"Hostess<\/a><\/p>\n

He scarfed down another Ho Ho whole, whilst trashing the family\u2019s wreath.
\n\u201cThe soft choco-mint together\u2019s like a Thin Mint\u2026made for those without teeth!\u201d
\nThe Grinch thought they\u2019d make great party favors: a fine novelty treat.
\nThe cream was memorable, but the purchase wouldn\u2019t be a repeat.<\/p>\n

The Grinch cackled and left, ready to watch all the fuss.
\n\u201cLittle Cindy will learn new words when she hears Daddy cuss!\u201d
\nThe next morning he peered down from his horrible hill,
\nBut saw nothing but cheer, A Christmas Story marathons, and goodwill!<\/p>\n

\u201cChristmas came without Ho Hos,\u201d he murmured. \u201cIt came without Cupcakes!\u201d
\n\u201cIt came without Little Debbie, Entenmann\u2019s, or Drake\u2019s!\u201d
\n\u201cMaybe holidays,\u201d he thought slowly, \u201cdon\u2019t come from processed food.\u201d
\n\u201cMaybe holidays are about who you\u2019re with, not just what is chewed.\u201d<\/p>\n

So the Grinch went back into town, and returned what he stole.
\nPerhaps this year Santa wouldn\u2019t gift him a metric s*** ton of coal.
\nLegends say the Grinch\u2019s heart grew three sizes that day!
\nThough that was probably the 6 grams of fat per Ho Ho, his doctor would say.<\/p>\n
