Simple is good. You don\u2019t need to reinvent the proverbial wheel for a limited time product to work – you just have to switch up the core idea of a product and present it as aesthetically and gustatorily pleasing as possible. <\/p>\n

Arby\u2019s all-new Pizza Sliders are a great example of fast food minimalism. It\u2019s not too ambitious, it\u2019s not too gimmicky, and it doesn\u2019t try to be anything bigger or better than it really is. It\u2019s just a gloriously uncomplicated minor<\/em> tweak to the chain\u2019s tried-and-true Sliders formula and that makes for a great value-priced (read: dollar menu) offering. <\/p>\n

\"Arby<\/p>\n

It\u2019s basically a miniature version of your classic Italian sub sammich. There\u2019s a big chunk of pepperoni, several meaty chunks of Genoa salami, a hearty smattering of melted provolone cheese and a dollop of roasted garlic marinara sauce wedged in between the \u201cmini-buns,\u201d which are actually much larger than you\u2019d expect them to be (for comparative purposes, I\u2019d say they\u2019re about twice the size of the mini-burgers at White Castle and Krystal.) <\/p>\n

\"Arby<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re trying to stretch a dollar, you\u2019re definitely going to get your money\u2019s worth here. Don\u2019t let the \u201cminiature\u201d gimmick fool you, these things are remarkably dense and surprisingly filling. I ordered three of them and by the time I put down the third Slider I felt as if I had crammed down a full-sized meatball hoagie.<\/p>\n

\"Arby<\/p>\n

But not all is well in Pizza Slider Town. The sandwich is also very salty, packing a walloping 930 milligrams of sodium. That\u2019s about half the sodium content you\u2019d find in something like Hardee\u2019s\/Carl\u2019s Jr.\u2019s Baby Back Rib Thickburger, a competing LTO burger easily three times the slider\u2019s girth. So if you tear into these things sans a beverage on the side, don\u2019t say I didn\u2019t try to warn you.<\/p>\n

\"Arby<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a minor point of contention, but I also thought the marinara sauce could\u2019ve been better (and, believe it or not, it\u2019s not the same stuff Arby\u2019s uses for its mozzarella sticks.) The sauce here is less tangy and more watery, and could really benefit from a pulpier blend and just a wee<\/em> bit more garlic or oregano. It\u2019s no deal breaker, though – and since the burger is only a buck, I suppose I can let it slide (get it, because it\u2019s called a Slider<\/em>?)<\/p>\n

Terrible puns aside, these things are just dandy. They\u2019re yummy, satisfying and super-duper affordable — essentially, everything you want out of a seasonal fast food item. And as far as imitation pizzas go, these things beat the susceptor<\/a>-coated sleeves off Hot Pockets\u2019 wannabe pizza sandwiches in overall quality and<\/em> price.<\/p>\n
