Panda Express\u2019 new Peking Pork is everything I wish the chain\u2019s original Sweet & Sour Pork was years ago \u2014 breaded pork, onions, and green bell peppers in a sweet and sour sauce, without hot pineapples.<\/p>\n
Because hot pineapple is THE WORST!<\/p>\n
But, oddly, hot acidic fruit chunks didn\u2019t stop me from choosing the chain\u2019s Sweet & Sour Pork when it was available. I\u2019d just move the fruit to the side, eat the rest of the entree, and then, after they\u2019ve cooled down, let my fortune cookie\u2019s fortune decide their fate. <\/p>\n

The Peking Pork\u2019s breaded pork chop pieces remind me of Chicken McNuggets, but thinner. I don\u2019t know how long the batch I ate from sat before being served to me, but the breading didn\u2019t have a crispy texture thanks to thick, goopy sauce around each breaded piece. The pork itself is a bit dry and firmer than any of Panda Express\u2019 chicken dishes, but it\u2019s still easy to chew. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s been awhile since I had Panda Express\u2019 Sweet & Sour Pork, so I don\u2019t exactly remember what it tastes like. But I feel as if the Peking Pork\u2019s sauce is less sour, which I don\u2019t mind. It\u2019s tastes great, but because it\u2019s sweet, it kind of reminds me of other Panda Express dishes. Cutting through the sauce\u2019s sugariness are the onions and bell peppers, which also add a bit of crunch that I wish the breading provided. <\/p>\n
Overall, Panda Express\u2019 Peking Pork is tasty addition to the chain\u2019s lineup of sweet sauce dishes. Sadly, the hot pineapple-less sweet & sour pork dish I\u2019ve always wanted from Panda Express is only available for a limited time. <\/p>\n
