Throughout my teen years, the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153popular\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cool\u00e2\u20ac\u009d kids called me various names. These included: nerd, dork, dweeb, lame ass, weirdo, doofus, and freak. But the one name I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mind being called was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153geek,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d because it sounded less harmless than the others. <\/p>\n

Today I still consider myself a geek and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m proud to be one. So to all those \u00e2\u20ac\u0153popular\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cool\u00e2\u20ac\u009d kids, all I want the say is: Look at me now, beeyatch!<\/p>\n

I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m the editor of a kind-of-popular<\/strike> not-so-popular quasi-review blog. What do you got? <\/p>\n

Great kids, a loving wife, a low mortgage, a steady paycheck, and regular nights of sex? <\/p>\n

That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all?<\/p>\n

Tell me, who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the lame ass doofus now?<\/p>\n

Sometimes it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard being a geek, so I was excited when Amazon.com recommend Just A Geek<\/i> by Wil Wheaton. In case you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know or don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t remember, Wil was Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/a> and also starred in the movie Stand By Me<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I instantly bought the book hoping that it would be about becoming a better geek and how to cope with being a geek. I was also hoping there would be a section of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You might be a geek\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d jokes, like these:<\/p>\n

You might be a geek, if your wedding was performed by an ordained Vulcan or Klingon.<\/i><\/p>\n

You might be a geek, if your kids\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 names are Fortran<\/a> and Pascal<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n

You might be a geek, if you find pleasure in bringing down a website by Slashdotting<\/a> it.<\/i><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t read the product description before buying, so I was surprised when it didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t contain any of the above. <\/p>\n
