Allow me to get political for a second\u2026<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t worry, I\u2019ll try to toe (tow?) the line like a spineless coward.<\/p>\n

Where are we at with the health administration discourse? Are these food dyes we devour every day really a crisis, or is eliminating them just a gimmicky distraction? Shocking to no one, I\u2019ve heard both arguments.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a little cynical. On one hand, it feels like an absolute bare minimum the food industry can do to pretend they\u2019re feeding us \u201chealthier\u201d food. However, I also see no reason why synthetic food dyes and artificial flavors should exist if there\u2019s even a 1% chance they\u2019re harming us.<\/p>\n

No matter your stance, Frito Lay has started the process for you. It\u2019s begun phasing out synthetic food dyes and artificial flavors with a new Simply \u201cNKD\u201d line of snacks, because no one, and I mean NO ONE, likes Cheeto fingers.<\/p>\n

That is my nonpartisan way of interpreting this.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s stop arguing about things we should all agree on and focus our energy on real debates, like whether it\u2019s \u201ctoe the line\u201d or \u201ctow the line,\u201d because I\u2019ve never been confident and couldn\u2019t commit to either one. I\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m just a moderate on this issue.<\/p>\n

Do you like Cheetos Puffs? Well, hopefully you liked them for their flavor and not their color, because \u201cNKD\u201d might be the wave of the future.<\/p>\n

Cheetos are good and will remain good. I can\u2019t say it any more simply \u2026 as these are technically \u201cSimply\u201d Cheetos, which I didn\u2019t even know still existed. I thought that was the discontinued line that gave people gastrointestinal issues.<\/p>\n

\"Cheetos<\/p>\n

I reviewed the \u201cNKD\u201d Cheetos against regular old classic puffs, and honestly didn\u2019t taste much of a difference. It was minor, and that was comparing a regular Cheeto vs. a \u201cSimply,\u201d which is marketed as a \u201ccleaner\u201d cheese puff that uses \u201creal\u201d ingredients.<\/p>\n

These are devoid of color but still have plenty of flavor. If anyone tells you there\u2019s a big discrepancy, they\u2019re just outraged by change. I think the NKD puffs taste just a little blander, and that\u2019s the \u201cSimply\u201d of it all, as I don\u2019t believe the orange dust was a flavor enhancer, but classics do \u201cpop\u201d with a tiny bit more long-lasting flavor.<\/p>\n

If this is how we have to enjoy Cheetos moving forward, we\u2019re gonna be fine. We\u2019ll heal, hopefully together.<\/p>\n

I like the puffs, but I don\u2019t love the branding. I can\u2019t help but feel like the bag is designed to trick people into thinking they\u2019re a fancy health food. Don\u2019t slack off on your diet, just because they un-dye it.<\/p>\n

Speaking of vibes, I hate the \u201cwe\u2019re a hot new start-up\u201d style name, \u201cNKD!\u201d Did they really need to remove the \u201ca-e?\u201d Maybe they\u2019re just holding them back as an \u201ci-o-u.\u201d \u2026 and sometimes \u201cy!\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s quite literally stripped down, unlike that very complex vowel joke.<\/p>\n

Oh, and Chester Cheetah is nude on the bag. He goes by \u201cChest-hair Cheetah,\u201d now.<\/p>\n

Just kidding, that perv has always been naked.<\/p>\n

These Cheetos may be a bit less dangerous, but they are, like my comedy stylings, still \u201cdangerously cheesy.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, they\u2019re a little less fun looking. Oh well. We\u2019ll live… if the government lets us. Vote or Dye!<\/p>\n
