A few weeks ago, TIB reader Tommy and I were lamenting on how Ben & Jerry\u2019s should bring back discontinued flavors in the comments for the post about Ben & Jerry\u2019s new Sundae flavors. And that got me wondering which flavor would I want to be dug out of the company\u2019s Flavor Graveyard. Is it a flavor I never got the change to try or one that I did try and miss dearly?<\/p>\n

So I went down the rabbit hole known as The Impulsive Buy\u2019s Ben & Jerry\u2019s reviews<\/a>, along with taking a detour to the Flavor Graveyard page<\/a> on Ben & Jerry\u2019s website and the Contact Us page on the site that allows you to request a flavor to come back via a loooooooooooong drop down list<\/a>. After all that, I\u2019ve narrowed it down to one flavor \u2014 Bob Marley\u2019s One Love.<\/p>\n

It debuted in 2017 and it featured banana ice cream with caramel and graham cracker swirls and fudge peace signs. Although, it was a limited batch, I could\u2019ve sworn it was on shelves for over a year. If Ben & Jerry\u2019s invented a time machine and went back to the year 2025, it could\u2019ve released it for Bob Marley\u2019s 80th birthday. Or, although it would be morbid, the company could re-release it this year for the 45th anniversary of his death. You know what? It doesn\u2019t matter when. I just want it to happen. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what I wrote in my review of it<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Because I like to scrape away the top layer with my spoon after first opening a pint, I got only the ice cream and swirls for my first few spoonfuls. Just those three ingredients created a combination that made me sing, \u201cWe\u2019re jammin\u2019, we\u2019re jammin\u2019, and I hope you like jammin\u2019 too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Being a fan of banana-flavored anything, I love the ice cream base. Its flavor is mild and it works well with the buttery caramel and graham cracker swirls. Actually, the gooey caramel, gritty graham cracker swirl, and creamy banana ice cream brought back memories of Magnolia Bakery\u2019s Banana Pudding.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you follow this site closely, you probably know I love banana-flavored products as much as four-year-olds love their stuffies, and I have said there needs to be more banana ice cream varieties in the freezer aisle. So Ben & Jerry\u2019s One Love is the flavor that I want back.<\/p>\n

I also asked a few others what flavors they think should make a comeback.<\/p>\n

“I think I’d want to bring back the epicness that was Clusterfluff (aka What a Cluster)<\/a>. Peanut butter ice cream with caramel cluster pieces, marshmallow swirls, & peanut butter swirls. Texture, flavor, sweetness. It had it all and I loved every bite. It’s sad that we’ve gone over a decade without this great flavor.”<\/p>\n

“The Ben & Jerry\u2019s flavor I would bring back is Cinnamon Buns. It had caramel ice cream with cinnamon bun dough and a cinnamon streusel swirl. The flavor ran from 2008 to 2023, when it was replaced by Churray for Churros.<\/p>\n

Cinnamon Buns was a perfect harmony of the ice cream, chewy dough pieces, and sticky swirl. It was one of the few Ben & Jerry\u2019s flavors I bought on repeat, and I’m sure I’ve polished off a pint in one sitting by digging for more cinnamon bun dough and then hitting the bottom. <\/p>\n

Its successor is good, but not stellar like Cinnamon Buns.”<\/p>\n

“While 90% of my Ben & Jerry\u2019s fandom has been spent firmly in the full fat full dairy part of its lineup, the elusive discontinued pint I think about the most comes from the early years of B&J\u2019s Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert offerings: Caramel Almond Brittle. I\u2019m not sure exactly when this came out but I first tried and reviewed it on my blog in 2018<\/a>. It had an almond flavored almond milk base with salted caramel swirls and pieces of almond brittle.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that the B&J non-dairy base has improved over the years, but this one, which leaned into the nutty almond notes with a hefty dose of floral almond extract, really worked. The texture always seemed exceptionally smooth and the pints were always loaded with crunchy, buttery brittle and sticky salty sweet swirls of caramel. <\/p>\n

It was one of those experiences where each time I would say out loud ‘I can\u2019t believe this is vegan.’ I bought it whenever I came across it at the grocery store. It\u2019s not a flavor for everyone but it was for me, and I miss it dearly. Especially when I would pop off the lid and get greeted by a huge pool of caramel akin to a premium $13 pint from Salt & Straw, which happened multiple times during its short-lived run.”<\/p>\n
