This is what happens when you buy ONE 12-pack of Liquid Death’s Pop-Tarts Carnage Iced Tea. ONE!
Oh, Amazon web cookie, I wish I could put you in one of my bedroom’s snack containers and eat you so you can’t follow me around anymore.
While less intriguing than the Liquid Death Feastables Peanut Butter Cup Soda also out now, the cinnamon roll flavor still sounded unique enough to try. That thought of uniqueness ended the moment I tasted it, though.
Most of you probably won’t drink this, either because you don’t care for Liquid Death’s light taste profile, its nightmare-inducing can designs, or because you roll your eyes at the brand’s slogan, “Murder your thirst.” But I need someone to corroborate something with me: does Liquid Death Cinnamon Roll taste very similar to the Pop-Tarts Carnage flavor?
Now that I’m thinking it, I can’t get it out of my head, and my tongue can’t get the taste out of its taste buds. It’s not a one-to-one copy. The Pop-Tarts variety has a noticeable strawberry note that this obviously doesn’t have, but the “roll” part of this drink tastes extremely similar to the “crust” part of the Pop-Tarts one, which was the most memorable thing about it.
It doesn’t just taste like dough, though. There’s a noticeable cinnamon flavor, so it checks the boxes for both “cinnamon” and “roll.” But I can’t shake the Pop-Tarts comparison, and it doesn’t really strike me as cinnamon roll. Actually, when I smell and drink it, it reminds me more of another baked good — an apple pie.
It doesn’t taste like the beverage has one, but this could really use a frosting flavor to convince drinkers that it’s more cinnamon roll than apple pie.
I enjoyed Pop-Tarts Carnage, so it’s not surprising that I also like Liquid Death’s Cinnamon Roll Tea, although a little less so. It doesn’t convince me it’s actually cinnamon roll flavored, and I can’t help but wonder if this was a happy accident discovered while creating the Pop-Tarts one.
It’s good enough that I’ll end up storing a few cans in my bedroom snack containers.
