FAST FOOD NEWS: Sonic Garlic Parmesan, Honey BBQ, Island Fire, and Extreme Habanero Heat Boneless Wings

Sonic Extreme Habanero Heat Boneless Wings

About this time last year, Sonic introduced their Boneless Chicken Wings. The crispy 100 percent all white meat chicken wings are back again this year, for a limited time, but now there are more sauces to choose from.

Buffalo and Asian Sweet Chili are making a return, but barbecue has been replaced with Honey BBQ, which is made of brown sugar, honey, and chipotle pepper. Joining those three sauces are Garlic Parmesan, Island Fire, and Extreme Habanero Heat. If the sweet and spicy Island Fire sounds familiar, it was originally on Sonic’s Island Fire Spicy Chicken Sandwich from 2013.

All Sonic Boneless Wing flavors are available in packs of six, 12, or 24. Those who order a 12- or 24-pack have the option to mix or match two sauces.

Six pieces of the Garlic Parmesan Boneless Wings have 740 calories, 51 grams of fat, 9 grams of saturated fat, 1530 milligrams of sodium, and 30 grams of protein. A six-piece serving of the Honey BBQ has 510 calories, 21 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 1500 milligrams of sodium, and 28 grams of protein. Six pieces of the Island Fire Boneless Wings have 540 calories, 21 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 1090 milligrams of sodium, and 29 grams of protein. A six-piece serving of the Extreme Habanero Heat has 580 calories, 33 grams of fat, 6 grams of saturated fat, 2600 milligrams of sodium, and 30 grams of protein.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Pizza Hut Twisted Crust Pizza

Pizza Hut Twisted Crust Pizza

Pizza Hut’s latest item combines pizza with breadsticks. Their Twisted Crust Pizza features their hand tossed crust and a tearable, dippable breadstick crust.

I imagined this combination would happen someday, but I thought it would happen with their regular breadsticks. Of course, I didn’t take into consideration such things as different cooking times for the pizza and breadsticks, how the rigid breadsticks would go around the pizza, and how fast food daydreams differ from reality.

The Twisted Crust Pizza also comes with two dipping sauces — a marinara sauce and your choice of either Buffalo Ranch or Cheddar Cheese sauce, both of which are new.

A large one topping Twisted Crust Pizza with two dipping sauces is available for $11.99 at participating locations.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Church’s Chicken Texas Pete Tender Strips

Church s Chicken Texas Pete Tender Strips

Church’s Chicken, the third or fourth fried chicken chain that’ll pop up in the heads of most people who, for some reason, are asked “Name me a fried chicken chain,” has teamed up with Texas Pete, the third through eighth hot sauce that’ll pop up in the heads of most people who, for some reason, are asked “Name me a hot sauce brand.” Together they’ve created Church’s Chicken’s Texas Pete Tender Strips.

The limited time only chicken entree features Church’s freshly hand-battered, all-white-meat Tender Strips dusted with Texas Pete seasoning. It’s available a la carte or as a meal, which includes three Texas Pete Tender Strips and a honey-butter biscuit, starting at $2.99.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Denny’s, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, Giraffas USA, and Burger King Peace Day Burger

Peace Day Burger

McDonald’s rejected Burger King’s proposal to create the McWhopper. But McDonald’s being a McDowner didn’t stop Burger King from creating a burger to raise awareness for Peace Day.

The burger chain instead joined forces with Denny’s, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, and Giraffas USA to create the Peace Day Burger. It’s a mashup that will contain parts of Denny’s Bacon Slamburger, Wayback’s Wayback Classic, Krystal’s Cheese Krystal, Giraffas’ Brutus, and Burger King’s Whopper.

The Peace Day Burger will be offered for one day only (September 21), from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, in Atlanta at a pop-up restaurant on 1122 Northside Drive. There will be only 1,500 burgers available for free, so expect a line that I imagine will be as long as one that combines all the folks waiting to buy a new iPhone with those waiting to get on a Disneyland ride.

If you happen to be in Atlanta on September 21st, and receive one of the 1,500 Peace Day Burgers available, and not accidentally drop it while trying to get a photo of it for Instagram, let us know how it tastes in the comments.
