FAST FOOD NEWS: Panda Express Sichuan Hot Chicken

Panda Express Sichuan Hot Chicken Test

After everyone and their aunties came out with chicken strips over the past two years, Panda Express is testing its own.

The chain is calling it Sichuan Hot Chicken and it features large, crispy strips of all-white meat chicken tossed in a spicy, Sichuan-inspired sauce. It’s also available Extra Spicy. The photo above was sent in by reader RaveGyrl, who took it at the Panda Express location in Calumet City, IL. She also tried it and shared her thoughts:

Yes, I tried it and it was amazing. They were like chicken tenders kind of like the Honey Sesame Chicken. The batter was still crunchy even with the sauce on it. It was really spicy and the heat stayed with me for a while. This is one of the first dishes I had at Panda Express where there wasn’t a sweet element to it. I would definitely get this again.

FAST FOOD NEWS: McDonald’s Signature Crafted Recipe Mushroom & Swiss

McDonald's Signature Crafted Recipe Mushroom & Swiss

Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our review.

This new McDonald’s Signature Crafted Recipe Mushroom & Swiss should not be confused with the McDonald’s Signature Crafted Recipe Swiss Mushroom Melt that sprouted up about this time last year and then shriveled away soon after, never to be seen again.

Last year’s version featured 1/4 lb. beef patty, seasoned mushrooms, two slices of Swiss cheese, and a garlic and herb sauce (which, if you didn’t read the link above, ruined the burger). This year’s comes with a 1/4 lb. fresh beef patty, seasoned mushrooms, a slice of Swiss cheese, crispy onions strips, and a creamy bistro aioli on an artisan roll.

The burger has 660 calories, 36 grams of fat, 12 grams of saturated fat, 1.5 gram of trans fat, 90 milligrams of cholesterol, 920 milligrams of sodium, 52 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, 10 grams of sugar, and 33 grams of protein.

Of course, like all Signature Crafted Recipes, it’s also available with Buttermilk Crispy Chicken or Artisan Grilled Chicken. And, if 1/4 lb. of beef isn’t enough for you, you can get a Double Mushroom & Swiss Burger that includes two beef patties and two slices of cheese.

If you’ve tried the newest Signature Crafted Recipe, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Starbucks Juniper Latte

Starbucks Juniper Latte

Starbucks has a new wintery beverage this season.

No, it’s not a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Mocha Frappuccino, which I imagine would be a cranberry mocha Frappuccino mix that’s topped with a chocolate-infused whipped cream and a round piece of chocolate with a shiny red candy shell. And, it would come with an antler-shaped crazy straw.

The new drink is the Juniper Latte and it’s made with Starbucks’ signature espresso and steamed milk infused with juniper syrup that’s topped with a velvety foam and pine-citrus sugar. It’s inspired by a Juniper holiday beverage that debuted last year exclusively at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle.

Starbucks’ Juniper Latte is available for a limited time, while supplies last.

A Grande with 2% milk has 260 calories, 7 grams of fat, 4.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 gram of trans fat, 25 milligrams of cholesterol, 160 milligrams of sodium, 37 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 35 grams of sugar, 12 grams of protein, and 150 milligrams of caffeine.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Sonic Fritos Chili Cheese Faves

Sonic Fritos Chili Cheese Faves

Update: We reviewed the burger! Click here to read our review.

To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed Sonic’s new Fritos Chili Cheese Faves didn’t end up being Sonic’s Cheetos Chili Cheese Faves. But there’s always the future.

The faves include three items:

The Fritos Chili Pie is made with Fritos, chili, and cheddar cheese. It’s available in small, medium, and large sizes and starts at 99 cents.

A small serving has 510 calories, 34 grams of fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, 0.5 grams of trans fat, 35 milligrams of cholesterol, 1030 milligrams of sodium, 35 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, and 14 grams of protein.

The Fritos Chili Cheese Jr. Wrap is basically the Fritos Chili Pie in an 8-inch flour tortilla. It has a price of 99 cents. (No nutrition facts available.)

Finally, there’s the $1.99 Fritos Chili Cheese Jr. Burger, which is a Fritos Chili Pie on top of a 100 percent beef patty, served on a bakery bun. (No nutrition facts available.)

Sonic’s Fritos Chili Cheese Faves are available for a limited time at participating locations while supplies last. Speaking of supplies, now that Sonic has a Fritos stockpile, customers can customize their Chili Cheese Coneys with the corn chips.

If you’ve tried any of them, let us know what you think in the comments.
