FAST FOOD NEWS: KFC Hot Honey Chicken

KFCHHC

Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our review.

KFC continues to sauce up its chicken with the new Hot Honey Chicken. It follows a long line of messy flavors that began with KFC’s Nashville Hot Chicken, which was followed by Georgia Gold Honey Mustard, Smoky Mountain BBQ, and Pickle Fried Chicken.

This iteration features a sauce that combines honey with mild pepper. Like all the previous flavors, it comes with pickles and is available with a Crispy Colonel Sandwich, Extra Crispy chicken, Extra Crispy Tenders, or Chicken Littles Sandwiches.

To help promote the new chicken, KFC has introduced a new Colonel — Colonel Bear. It’s a bear-shaped honey bottle dressed like Colonel Sanders. Or is it a Colonel Sanders shaped like a bear-shaped honey bottle? If you find Colonel Bear adorable, you can enter to win one by going to kfc.com/adoptacolonelbear.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Taco Bell Chipotle Triple Double Crunchwrap

Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our review.

Taco Bell has brought back its Triple Double Crunchwrap and has also introduced the Chipotle Triple Double Crunchwrap. Below, in block quotes, is the slightly long-winded Taco Bell-ese used to describe the latest menu item on the chain’s website. But instead of reading all that, I’ve provided translations of every major section.

TAKE YOUR SEAT; CLASS IS IN SESSION.

No… there won’t be a pop quiz at the end.

Today we are discussing the Chipotle pepper. Yes, that’s right, just like that found in the name of Taco Bell’s new Chipotle Triple Double Crunchwrap. But please, don’t jump ahead, as we will focus on that later. Now the Chipotle pepper falls within the species Capsicum annuum, and like many other peppers found in this peppy group, when added as an ingredient to other foods, can provide quite a desirable kick. The Chipotle is unique however, as it isn’t just spicy. It also has a bold smoky flavor, unlike any other pepper… or is it really?

Translation: We added the flavor and spiciness of the chipotle to our Triple Double Crunchwrap.

It turns out… our friend, the Chipotle, has a dirty little secret. It’s actually a Jalapeño pepper in disguise. It’s true. Go ahead, look it up if you have to. It turns out… if you take a Jalapeño, and smoke it to perfection, you end up with what is commonly referred to as the Chipotle. Now if you were then to create a creamy sauce out of this fine, smoky pepper and add in two layers of seasoned beef, two layers of nacho cheese sauce, two layers of crunchy tostada shells with lettuce, diced tomatoes and reduced-fat sour cream all wrapped it all up in a flour tortilla that’s then grilled… you get the all new Chipotle Triple Double Crunchwrap.

Translation: A chipotle is a smoked jalapeno and we turned it into a creamy sauce to include with the two layers of beef, two layers of nacho cheese sauce, two tostada shells, lettuce, tomatoes, and reduced fat sour cream, all of which is wrapped in a flour tortilla.

It’s meaty, it’s cheesy, it’s crunchy… and with that remarkable Creamy Chipotle sauce, it’s exactly what the teacher ordered (for lunch) and… exactly what you need to “study” after class. Which brings us to your homework assignment. Drop by your local participating Taco Bell® location and pick up one of these Chipotle Triple Double Crunchwrap®s for yourself. Want extra credit? Take a friend and get them one too. You will have to act fast though, as it will only be available for a limited time.

That concludes our lesson for the day… There’s the Bell… Class dismissed.

Translation: It’s available for a limited time at participating locations.

The Chipotle Triple Double Crunchwrap has 770 calories, 38 grams of fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, 0.5 gram of trans fat, 50 milligrams of cholesterol, 1650 milligrams of sodium, 86 grams of carbohydrates, 9 grams of fiber, 8 grams of sugar, and 8 grams of protein.
