SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Smartfood Caramel & Cheddar Mix Popcorn

Smartfood Caramel Cheddar Mix Popcorn

Just learned the Chicago Mix (caramel and cheese-flavored popcorn) originated in Minnesota. (Spotted by Raveen at Walgreens.)

  1. It didn’t originate in mn, they were just savvy enough to get the name registered first. Their mix isn’t even a true Chicago mix- it includes plain popcorn too.

    1. KF– You are incorrect. They created the “Chicago mix” first of all, so therefore the ones that lack regular popcorn are the ones that aren’t true Chicago mixes.

I never heard the term Chicago Mix until Candyland started selling it, and a search of the web yields absolutely no evidence the term was used elsewhere before that.

  2. I love this new mix but I have to say I’d love it if they would make just the caramel popcorn alone. It’s the I’ve ever tasted. My hubby eats the cheddar I eat the caramel. But I’d love a whole bag of caramel please!!!

  3. Can’t. Stop. Eating. Oh my. It’s delicious. Bought at Walmart west side of Indiana. My husband, five year old and I like the caramel. My two year old loves the cheddar!
