SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Great Value Tropickles

Great Value Tropickles

You’re not going to find this at every Walmart. It’s being sold at locations in the South. But, thanks to the internet, you can make some at home. (Thanks to Walmart for sending us a jar, shown above.)

If you’re out shopping and see an interesting new product on the shelf, snap a picture of it, and send us an email ([email protected]) with where you found it and “Spotted” in the subject line. Or reply to us (@theimpulsivebuy) on Twitter with the photo, where you spotted it, and the hashtag #spotted. If you’ve tried the product, share your thoughts about it in the comments.

Also, if you want to send in photos and are wondering if we’ve already covered something, don’t worry about it. Let us worry about it.

  1. They’re not just in the South..
I’ve spotted them at my local Walmart and I live in Maine.

    1. I’m also in NE Ohio, but I have no plans to seek these out. Although I doubt if these were made by simply adding fruit punch to a regular jar of pickles, I still say no thanks.

      1. I only know they’re on shelves because a friend works there. Even I’m not crazy enough to try those!

  2. Umm, do people think this will actually taste good?? Tropical punch flavored pickles?? Am I missing something?

    1. Soaking dill pickles in koolaid is a recipe that people make I think for nostalgic reasons. I tried it once and it wasn’t as bad as it sounds.

  3. Must have been created by the same people who released those strawberry and fruit punch string cheese flavors a while ago…

  4. I wonder of there’s a peppermint flavor coming next. A giant dill pickle with a peppermint stick in the middle remind me back to summers in the deep south.

  5. There’s nothing new about this. I’ve been making Alton Brown’s recipe for Kool Aid pickles for years. Nothing more refreshing on a terrible Summer day.

  6. Found and purchased in East Central Ohio. Seems like they are common at many if not most WM Supercenters. Looks to be a part of the most recent aisle reset. They are actually pretty decent. I would buy again. Kudos to them for offering something different.
