Remember when you used to paint a body part in your college’s colors to show your school pride?

Yeah, I never did that. But if you did, I bet you’d be willing to do almost anything for your alma mater, even eat the upcoming school-branded Kellogg’s Limited Edition Printed Fun Pop-Tarts.

Kellogg’s has teamed up with the University of Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and North Carolina to create a new line of Pop-Tarts that will have their logos printed on Pop-Tarts frosting. Yes, there isn’t a wide selection of schools to choose from, but don’t feel bad because the school participating didn’t have a wide selection of flavors to choose from. Actually, it appears they didn’t have a choice because these school-inspired Pop-Tarts come in one flavor — strawberry.

However, each school’s Pop-Tart has a unique name. Well, not all of them. The University of Florida’s Florida Gators Strawberry was the least creative of all the names. But there’s also the University of North Carolina’s Tar Heel Berry, University of Arkansas’ Razorback Red, University of Georgia’s Bulldog Berry, and University of Michigan’s Go Blue Strawberry.

Yes, North Carolina and Michigan, which are known for their blue colors, are forced to have strawberry flavored Pop-Tarts instead of the more appropriate blueberry. Go Blue!

Update: Kellogg’s has done this before.

These Limited Edition Printed Fun Pop-Tarts will be available in early September and only sold in the states where the universities are located. They will also be available online at PopTartsWorld.com.

Here are some new products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. We may or may not review them, but we’d like to let you know what new items are popping up. We’ll also occasionally throw in an unusual product.

Baking technology FTW! So I take it these are basically huge canisters filled with the stuff that’s found in Betty Crocker’s Warm Delights. No need for vegetable oil and no need to crack eggs and then dig around in the egg whites for bits of egg shells that accidentally fell in because I hit the edge of the bowl too hard with the egg.

I prefer chunky peanut butter over creamy peanut butter, but I don’t like how I go through a jar of the chunky stuff much faster than a jar of the creamy stuff. And I’m afraid I would go through a 12-ounce jar of Planters NUT-rition in a week because not only are there peanuts mixed in, there are also things like raisins, granola, peanuts, and banana chips. Option Pitch and Waffle Crisp reviewed one of the flavors.

Cream of Wheat has been around for over 100 years and only now they come out with a chocolate flavor. Geez, Cream of Wheat has been making people suffer throughout bowls and bowls of regular Cream of Wheat for a very, very long time. Thanks for the photo, Bobby!

The Limited Edition Frosted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Pop-Tarts has me thinking why Kellogg’s hasn’t come out with coffee-flavored Pop-Tarts. They’ve overdone chocolate-flavored Pop-Tarts, so I think it’s about time for Kellogg’s to start doing coffee-flavored toaster pastries and then go completely overboard with them. They could start off with coffee, then mocha, cinnamon, vanilla mocha, and so on.

But until then we’re stuck with chocolate.

According to the Kellogg’s website, the Limited Edition Frosted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Pop-Tarts toaster pastry is made up of hot chocolate-flavored crust and a marshmallow filling topped with mocha-colored icing and chocolatey crumbles.

One pastry has 190 calories, 4 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat, 1 gram of monounsaturated fat, 260 milligrams of sodium, 36 grams of carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of fiber, 19 grams of sugar, 2 grams of protein, and a bunch of vitamin and minerals.

The first day of November is like Christmas for those who like Halloween candy because overnight all the Halloween candy still on the shelves magically becomes 30-50 percent cheaper than the day before. This is also when Christmas candy starts appearing on shelves, but at full price.

One candy you’ll see this holiday season replacing all the Halloween stuff is Twix Sugar Cookie Minis. They have the same old Twix chocolate and caramel, but the cookie finger is replaced with a sugar cookie finger that has colorful sugar sprinkles inside it.

Twix Sugar Cookie Minis will be available sometime in November, replacing Halloween-themed Twix bars, and have a suggested retail price of $3.99 for a 10.5 ounce bag.

The first food I learned to make as a child was the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, followed by Cup Noodles. PB&J sandwiches are extremely easy and quick to make, yet kids today have Smucker’s Uncrustables and now these peanut butter and jelly Kid Cuisine Snack Stix. Today’s kids are so spoiled with their iPads, Xbox, and peanut butter and jelly snacks that need to be thawed before eating. Thanks for the photo, Nicole!

You know when you get a card in the mail…Oh wait. No one mails stuff anymore. Let me rephrase. Remember when you got a card in the mail and the person who sent you the card stuffed the envelope with glitter and sparkly things. You could feel the added crap and you knew it was there, but when you opened the envelope and the card, the glitter and sparkly things fell out anyway and on to the floor. For years, I’ve been hoping that someday there would be limited edition frozen hash browns so I could make fun of the fact there are limited edition frozen hash browns. We’re not quite there yet, but I hope these limited edition waffle cut fries bring us a step closer. Thanks for the photo, Peter!

Marie Callender’s is known for their pies, but I have yet to try any of them. That will soon change since I purchased the Chocolate Satin flavor. These pies are mini, about 4 inches in diameter, but their nutrition facts aren’t. One Chocolate Satin mini pie has 24 grams of fat (37 percent DV), 11 grams of saturated fat (55 percent DV), and 2 grams of trans fat. Wow. It looks like Marie Callender’s is trying to Marie Killender’s me.
