Update: Click here to read our Limited Edition Ice Cream Oreo Rainbow Shure, Bert! review

A few weeks ago, TIB Twitter follower KingRhino let us know about a new raspberry sherbet Oreo variety, but didn’t tell us the name of the product. But thanks to TIB Twitter follower @NickL3git, who snapped the photo above at a Walmart Super Center, we now know it’s called, Limited Edition Ice Cream Oreo Rainbow Shure, Bert!

The cookie that’s not named after a wonderful microphone company and Ernie’s uni-browed roommate, combines Golden Oreo cookies with a rainbow raspberry and lime creme.

KingRhino also told us Limited Edition Creamsicle Oreo cookies are coming back. They were a Walmart-exclusive when they first came out, but we’re not sure if that’s the case this time around.

If you happen to get your hands on Limited Edition Ice Cream Oreo Rainbow Shure, Bert!, let us know what you think of them in the comments below.

SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 4/19/2012

New products are released all the time and here are some we found on our most recent shopping trips. We may or may not review them, but we’d like to let you know what new items are popping up on store shelves.

Red Baron has a bunch of new frozen pizza products. First off, there’s Red Baron’s Pizza & Sides, which comes in four varieties: Pepperoni Pizza & Buffalo Wyngs, Pepperoni Pizza & Mozzarella Sticks, Cheese Pizza & Buffalo Wyngs, and Supreme Pizza & Mozzarella Sticks. Yes, DiGiorno did it first, but at least Red Baron didn’t combine pizza with cookies.

Next up is Red Baron Feasts for One Thick Pan Pizza. It’s available in three varieties: Pepperoni, Supreme, and MEAT-TRIO. Don’t ask me why MEAT-TRIO is all in caps. But whenever I say Red Baron Thick Pan MEAT-TRIO Pizza, I’m going to shout the MEAT-TRIO part. It’s a personal pizza with a thick, chewy pan-style crust. It cooks in under five minutes. A whole Red Baron Feasts for One Thick Pan Pepperoni Pizza has 680 calories, 28 grams of fat, 14 grams of saturated fat, 1,220 milligrams of sodium, and 28 grams of protein.

According to Red Baron’s website, there are other Red Baron Feasts for One varieties, like their Super Slice (no picture taken, but I did see them) and these Original Crust pizzas. These personal pizzas are significantly wider than the Red Baron Feasts for One Thick Pan Pizzas and come in three flavors: 4-Cheese, Pepperoni, and Supreme. No, I don’t know why there are Asian people on the front of the box. If you were to eat an entire Red Baron Feasts for One Original Crust Pepperoni Pizza you would have consumed 820 calories, 28 grams of fat, 12 grams of saturated fat, 2,140 milligrams of sodium, and 34 grams of protein.

Vitamin Squeeze Water Enhancer is like MiO Liquid Water Enhancer, except it comes in a huge ass bottle. It’s available in four flavors: Acai, Grape, Pomegranate; Fruit Punch; Tropical Citrus; and Peach Green Tea. Each bottle is able to make 24 8-ounce servings. The Fruit Punch and Peach Green Tea flavors have 40 milligrams of sweet, sweet caffeine per 8-ounce serving.

The problem with Popsicles is that they have no redeeming nutritional qualities. They’re mainly sugar and water. But Popsicle’s new Yosicle line contains 10 percent nonfat yogurt and has 25 percent of your recommended daily allowance for calcium. Oooh, ten percent! Take that, Go-Gurt and your 100 percent nonfat yogurt content. Yosicles come in three varieties: Torpedo!, Layerz!, and Duos!

Kettle Sweet Garlic Chili on shelf

After a bit of Googling, I found out these have been available for a couple of months, but there’s no mention of them on the Kettle Brand website. I kind of regret not picking them up since I’m a fan of spicy Kettle Brand potato chips, but the product below made me completely forget about them while in the chip aisle.

FSTG Hemp on shelf

These Food Should Taste Good Hemp Tortilla Chips aren’t new. They’ve been available for almost a year, but I only just discovered them at Whole Foods. I should really cruise around Whole Foods more often. Oooh, maybe they have hemp ice cream! The tortilla chips are green in color and made with hemp seeds and blue corn. It’s not really surprising to see Food Should Taste Good with hemp tortilla chips. After all, they do have other odd tortilla chip varieties like chocolate.

NEWS: Hot Pockets Snackers Now Comes In Honey BBQ Chicken and Macaroni and Cheese

IMG_1293

Last year, we reviewed the original four Hot Pockets Snackers varieties. This year, Hot Pockets has added two new flavors to the bite-sized snack line: Honey BBQ Chicken and Macaroni and Cheese.

To be honest, after reviewing them, I thought the Hot Pockets Snackers would end up being discontinued. Instead, they ended up coming in bigger bags and now there are more flavors. And those instincts are the reasons why I will never be a product manager for a major food company.

The “baked not fried” snacks come in 10-ounce bags that contain approximately 12 Snackers.

SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 4/12/2012

New products are released all the time and here are some we found on our most recent shopping trips. We may or may not review them, but we’d like to let you know what new items are popping up on store shelves.

Wish Bone Buffalo Ranch on shelf

These have been out for a couple of months, but I only learned about them recently when I accidentally ended up on the Wish-Bone website after Googling…well, it’s not important what I was Googling. Like gourmet bologna, combining Frank’s Red Hot Sauce with Ranch dressing sounds like a culinary oxymoron. Well, if it makes vegetables taste better, then that’s all that really matters.

Rockstar Relax on Shelf

I picked up a can of Rockstar Relax, but I have yet to open it because when I need to relax I just put on my headphones and listen to the most relaxing song ever. Rockstar Relax is tropical guava flavored and contains a “calming herbal blend” of passionflower extract, rose hips extract, and chamomile extract. You can read the Thirsty Dudes review here.

Skinny Cow Oh Fudge Nuts on Shelf

I haven’t admitted this to anyone, but the anthropomorphic Skinny Cow mascot freaks me out. People say Skinny Cow frozen treats are good, but I won’t buy a box because I’m afraid of what feelings might stir up if I stare too long at those lady cow curves. Like their new Shake-Stirs, Skinny Cow’s Oh Fudge Nuts! are a “Slimited Edition” product. Slimited? Oh, you wordsmiths at Nestle! You’re clever. If I was in your shoes, I probably would’ve called them something lame, like Limithin Edition. That’s why you’re making the big bucks and I run a semi-popular product review blog.

Sara Lee Pound Cake Slices on shelf

So lemme get this straight. Instead of buying a regular Sara Lee pound cake and cutting it myself in the aluminum pan, I can get Sara Lee pound cake that’s in individually wrapped slices, giving me a metal-free Sara Lee experience. These Pound Cake Slices sound like the greatest invention since sliced bread.

Magnum Minis on shelf

Magnum Ice Cream bars have received rave reviews…and lots of comparisons with Magnum condoms. Now they come in mini bars that are about half the size of the regular versions. Magnum Mini comes in two flavors: Classic and Almond. Of course, if you live in the U.K., Magnum Mini bars aren’t new to you. They’ve been available in the U.K. since 2009. Well, at least the U.S. was the first to have other Magnums, like the .357 Magnum and Magnum, P.I.

NEWS: P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Appetizers Give You The Option of Not Having To Face That Scary Horse Outside P.F. Chang’s Locations

PF Chang's Home Menu Spring Rolls in freezer

I’ve been to P.F. Chang’s a couple of times. But ever since I learned about this army of stone Chinese soldiers, the stone horse outside of many P.F. Chang’s restaurants has been freaking me out and I’m afraid to go back.

However, thanks to P.F. Chang’s desire to let people experience their food at home, I’ve been able to avoid stone horses with their Home Menu frozen meal line. But the P.F. Chang’s home experience has been lacking without the option of appetizers. But that changed recently with the introduction of P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Spring Rolls and Dumplings.

The frozen appetizers come in five varieties.

General Chang’s Chicken Spring Rolls – Grilled chicken, broccoli, and cabbage.

Teriyaki Chicken Spring Rolls – Grilled chicken, cabbage, red pepper, and grilled onion..

Shrimp and Seafood Dumplings – Seafood with cabbage, scallions, and ginger.

Chicken and Vegetable Dumplings – Chicken, bok choy, and shiitake mushrooms.

Pork and Leek Dumplings – Pork, leek, cabbage, and scallions.

The spring rolls come with a packet of sweet and sour sauce, while the dumplings come with sweet soy sauce. They can be prepared on a stove or in an oven. They recommend you not microwave them, but they include microwave instructions anyway. There are five pieces in each bag.

Two Teriyaki Chicken Spring Rolls have 180 calories, 3 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 660 milligrams of sodium, 30 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of sugar, and 9 grams of protein.
