International Delight French Toast Swirl Creamer

I’m so glad I started drinking coffee years ago.

If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be experiencing the one-upscreamership between International Delight and the popular creamer brand from Nestle that sometimes has a hyphen in its name and sometimes doesn’t. Both do collaborations with other brands. Both do unique flavors that the other doesn’t have.

Who’s winning? I don’t care. I’ll fork over my hard-earned cash for whatever either brand is peddling. The latest from International Delight is the limited time only French Toast Swirl, which promises “swirls of maple and cinnamon flavor.”

I taste cinnamon. I taste maple. I taste cream. I taste…egg?

I mean, it’s not as if there’s the taste of scrambled eggs is in my coffee, but it’s kind of like an eggy bread flavor. That combined with strong cinnamon and maple does equal to something that tastes like French toast, and it’s potent when poured into a cup of coffee. This creamer is délicieux.

Yes, eggy flavor sounds weird and it might turn some of you off, but it’s what makes this creamer stand out. Without it, it would be more of a run-of-the-mill variety. Actually, the more I think about it, and the more I drink, I realize it also reminds me of bread pudding I’ve had.

But, as someone who has tried almost every big brand and store brand creamer I can get my hands on, this coffee additive’s flavor tastes similar to another one I’ve had in the past. But after doing some thinking while sipping on a mug of coffee lightened with a healthy dose of this creamer, I couldn’t pinpoint which creamer it tastes like.

I don’t know if it’s the caffeine in my French toast-flavored coffee that’s doing the talking, but International Delight’s French Toast Swirl Creamer is tre magnifique. I enjoyed it as much as the Reese’s one, which is a variety I’ve bought numerous times since its debut in 2017.

I don’t know if my taste buds are just tired from all the different chocolate-flavored creamers recently, but this one stands out among all the varieties that have come out with the past two years from International Delight and the creamer brand from Nestle that sometimes has a hyphen in its name and sometimes doesn’t.

International Delight Limited Edition S mores Creamer

International Delight’s S’mores Creamer takes me back to my days at Boy Scouts camp.

The sunlight hours were spent earning Merit Badges, repelling mosquitos, and using the only toilet with running water at the camp which was at the main lodge. Nights involved more mosquitos, sleeping on the hard ground, latrine use, and coming up with schemes to get me sent home because I hated camping.

Of course, the creamer mostly reminds me of the nightly s’mores consumption around the campfire. But the crunchy, gooey, and messy treat was never good enough to make me forget I was in the middle of a forest surrounded by mosquitos and I had to do my business in what was basically a hole in the ground.

This limited edition s’mores variety is not International Delight’s first attempt at a s’mores-flavored creamer. It had one years ago in partnership with Hershey’s. This 2019 version has nothing to do with the candy bar even though s’mores are kind of synonymous with the Pennsylvanian chocolate.

The folks at International Delight sent me its latest s’mores creamer, and, fortunately, I had more than enough coffee to try it with because it just so happened I received a few 96-ounce insulated bags of Starbucks brewed coffee in cardboard dispensers from a person who was looking to dump some hot merchandise. Of course, “hot” meaning hot coffee and not stolen goods. Wink.

Anyhoo, I had a lot of coffee, which means I either had a lot of opportunities to taste the creamer or I could start my own black market Starbucks stand.

The product does make my stolen, I mean, gifted Starbucks coffee taste chocolatey and a little marshmallowy. I couldn’t detect any graham cracker, which was disappointing. Even pouring it straight into my mouth didn’t result in getting any of that flavor.

Besides having some graham cracker flavor, I do wish the marshmallow was a bit more noticeable. Although it did come out a tad more when I drank it by itself. With a strong chocolate base, it makes my coffee taste similar to other cups I’ve had with other chocolate-based coffee creamers.

International Delight’s Limited Edition S’mores Creamer is lacking a noticeable graham flavor, but having just chocolate and marshmallow flavoring isn’t bad in any way.

Coffee mate Dove Dark Chocolate Almond Creamer

Coffee-mate’s Dove Dark Chocolate Almond Creamer is one of two Nestle and Mars collaboration flavors with the other one being a Snickers flavor.

This Dove Chocolate version smells like one of the best chocolate milk ever with a hint of nuttiness. But after inhaling too much of it, I noticed a bit of an odd chemical-like smell. It doesn’t completely turn me off to it, but maybe I should stick to quick huffs.

By itself, which is definitely not Nestle’s recommend way to consume its creamers, the coffee enhancer is potent. It’s sweet and tastes nothing like any Dove Dark Chocolate I’ve had. But it does have a strong cocoa flavor with a hint of almonds.

With coffee, the flavors I tasted when drinking it straight up are still there, but obviously muted because of the joe. The dark cocoa flavor blends well with the java. The almond lingers in the background, but it’s harder to detect. Overall, it’s a tasty way to enhance the dark beverage, but it’s not better or less than most Coffee-mate flavors I’ve had. No FOMO here.

The nutty flavor isn’t from almond milk. It’s more of an enhanced version of the nut from “natural flavors.” It not surprising this doesn’t have almond milk because the dairy alternative not only makes things non-dairy, it also makes products non-the-same-price-as-the-non-almond-milk-versions. Nut milk tends to make things more expensive. Oh, by the way, to clarify, this Dove one is non-dairy, like most of Nestle’s creamers.

Dove Dark Chocolate Almond is a decent addition to the long list of other flavors the Nestle creamer brand offers. It’s no International Delight Reese’s Creamer because the candy equation of Reese’s > Dove will NEVER flip. But it’s an excellent flavor to mix it up, especially for someone like me who buys the Coffee-mate three-pack at Costco that has only French Vanilla and Hazelnut and is getting tired of it despite how cheap it is.

International Delight Limited Edition Peeps Creamer

What is the International Delight Limited Edition Peeps Creamer?

Born to delight caffeine-addicts everywhere, this creamer without borders exists to bring the cuteness of Just Born’s famous springtime chicks into your drab and dreary cup o’ joe.

How is it?

Crazy premise aside, this concept isn’t as insane as it sounds. Peeps, divisive as they are, are basically super-sweet marshmallows, and the addition of marshmallows to any hot beverage is a definite plus in my book.

On its own, the creamer tastes reminiscent of the fluffy treats, with predominant flavors of sugar and vanilla coming through. Even so, I didn’t get a distinctly “Peeps” vibe while I was sipping on it, and I think I know why. Without their characteristic dusting of sugar, Peeps aren’t much different from Kraft Jet-Puffed. Lacking that signature coating, this is just a green, marshmallow-flavored creamer.

The Peeps theme became even more lost when I added it to an actual cup of coffee. While good, it didn’t really taste like marshmallows anymore, and I could have easily mistaken it for French Vanilla if I hadn’t known better.

Besides the packaging itself, I’m not so sure on how this is supposed to make my coffee cuter, since it didn’t impact its appearance any differently than my typical addition of almond milk does. What’s more, I found its slightly greenish hue to be quite unsettling at first, and I actually sniffed the bottle before tasting it to make sure I hadn’t grabbed an expired bottle on accident.

Is there anything else you need to know?

I liked adding this to hot chocolate more than I did in coffee. Hot chocolate + liquid marshmallow + mini marshmallows on top = liquid bliss!

Conclusion:

Although the marketing at play here is probably more unique than the actual product is, I would say that this is still worth picking up if you’re on the hunt for a decent coffee add-in. Just close your eyes while you pour it out so you won’t think about the color.

Nestle Coffee mate Snickers Creamer

Nestle has teamed up with, um, Mars to offer a Snickers-flavored coffee creamer. I’ll let the words on its 32 fluid ounce bottle tell you more, “Satisfied? You’re about to be. Because when it comes to satisfaction nobody does it like Snickers. And when it comes to creamer, nobody does it like Coffee mate. It’s a match made in peanut caramel chocolate coffee heaven.”

For those of you who don’t know what a Snickers bar is for some reason that I guarantee will be a sad story to me, it’s a layer of nougat topped with a layer of caramel with peanuts wading in it and everything is enrobed in chocolate. If that description makes your deprived mouth water, people who don’t know what a Snickers bar is, then let me disappoint it by saying this doesn’t remind me of the iconic candy bar in hot coffee, iced coffee, or in my new way of using creamer, overnight oats.

In the battle between Milky Way vs. Snickers, I’m #TeamSnickers. So I’ve had more than enough of the candy to know what it tastes like, and this doesn’t immediately or distantly remind me of it. I also tried it neat and could taste the chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel, but it formed an odd artificial sweet flavor that I wouldn’t enjoy on its own. Oddly, it smells wonderful, like cookies and cream.

When added to coffee it still doesn’t taste like Snickers, but it also doesn’t taste like it does when sipped straight from the bottle. It’s mostly chocolatey, and the weird sweet flavor gets covered up by the java’s bitterness. But there also isn’t anything that reminds me of peanuts or caramel. (Also, what about the nougat?) With its strong chocolate base, it makes my coffee taste like a different shade of mocha. It’s a decent creamer, but I was expecting a bit more.

So, the “um” at the beginning of this review was my brain trying to wrap itself around the idea that Nestle has teamed up with Mars in some DC/Marvel-like crossover. Hey, Nestle rhymes with DC and Mars kind of rhymes with Marvel!

It’s a little odd to see Nestle, the brand behind such favorite candy bars as Butterfinger, Crunch, Baby Ruth, and 100 Grand, team up with Mars, the company behind more popular candy bars, to offer coffee creamers. But I guess now that the candy division of Nestle is now owned by Ferrero (yes, as in Ferrero Rocher), the Nestle that doesn’t deal with candy in the U.S. can do whatever the heck it wants.

With Coffee mate’s Snickers Creamer, it’s as if Nestle and Mars got lazy and slapped the Snickers name on this without actually making it taste like the popular candy bar. I mean, it’s as lazy as copying whatever text is on a bottle and using it in the first paragraph of a review. It’s fine as a coffee addition and I’ll drink the rest without hesitation, but if you’re a hardcore #TeamSnickers, it might not satisfy you.
