FAST FOOD NEWS: Taco Bell Potato Crisp Nachos

Taco Bell Potato Crisp Nachos

Taco Bell is testing a new take on nachos. Impulsive Buy reader Ryan sent in this photo he took at a Taco Bell location in Bellevue, Nebraska. The Potato Crisp Nachos feature thin crispy potato slices topped with seasoned ground beef, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and nacho cheese.

He tried the Grande sized version. “They were good! My only complaint is that the potatoes were sliced too thin to be French fry-like, but not cooked enough to be totally crispy. They had crispy edges but were chewy in the middle,” said Ryan.

It’s not unusual to see Taco Bell menu items with potatoes. There’s been the Loaded Potato Griller, Bacon Cheesy Potato Burrito, Crispy Potato Soft Taco, and a number of breakfast items. But those involves crispy potato chunks or hash brown.

Would you try these Potato Crisp Nachos?

  1. These are in Oklahoma I was wondering why I had not seen any advertising. I tried them this weekend and I really liked them. The potatoes are crisp and they stayed crisp even loaded with toppings.

  2. I’m curious to see how these would compare to the Irish pub fare known as Irish Nachos (nachos made with handmade potato chips). My guess would be poorly.

  3. Even if I wanted to try them, I can’t. The last Taco Bell franchise in this area just closed. :/

  4. I would try these, no question. But does anyone remember a burrito from the early 90’s that had steak and tater tots in it? I loved that thing! I wish they would bring that back! They also had something called a taco light, I think it was called. It wasn’t light but it was so good!

    1. I remember it! It was my favorite thing to get while they had it. It was so delicious!

  5. Tried these in South Omaha. Not good at all, very leathery potatoes, extremely chewy like dog treats. Nasty.
