SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 3/1/2013

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers.

Hawaiian Punch Crush Orange Water Enhancers

Crush Grape Water Enhancer

Look at what you started MiO! This is getting ridiculous! An ICEE-flavored liquid water enhancer? Awesome! Now I can enjoy the goodness of a completely melted ICEE without having to wait for it to melt. (Spotted by Joshua at Publix and Winn Dixie.)

Campfire Mallow Bursts Lemon Meringue

Toast these babies over a fire, then place them in between two graham crackers, and you have yourself a lemon s’meringue. (Spotted by Nadirah at Walmart.)

Ocean Spray Cran-Lemonade

Ocean Spray has combined cranberry with grape, pomegranate, raspberry, blueberry, apple, cherry, strawberry, tangerine, and now lemons. Is there any fruit Ocean Spray won’t combine with cranberries? (Spotted by Marvo at Safeway.)

Bon Appetit Frozen Meal

At first I thought these Bon Appetit frozen entrees were related to Bon Appetit magazine. They aren’t. Then I wondered if Bon Appetit magazine still exists. It does. After that I wondered if Gourmet magazine was still being published. It’s not. After that I wondered if Highlights for Children still exists. It does. Then I wondered if Children’s Digest was still around. It’s not. (Spotted by Kevin at Walmart.)

Nestle Limited Edition Coco Orange Shreddies

Now THIS is what limited edition cereals should be like here in the US. Kind of weird, but that weirdness makes it buyable. Instead we have limited edition Trix cereal with swirls and limited edition Marshmallow Pebbles that are exactly like regular Marshmallow Pebbles except with a different Flintstones character on the box. (Spotted by Kelly at Waitrose in the UK.)

Thank you to all the photo contributors! If you’re out shopping and see an interesting new or limited edition product on the shelf (or really unusual), snap a picture of it, and send us an email (theimpulsivebuy@gmail.com) with where you found it and “Spotted” in the subject line. If you do so, you might see your picture in our next Spotted on Shelves post.

  1. Those marshmallows are really good. They have a key-lime ones too. They both freakishly taste just like a pie.

  2. In all fairness, the Orange Crush (much like the Crystal Light, Hawaiian Punch, and Kool-Aid, but unlike Mio) actually gives the full flavor of the mentioned beverage (as opposed to just enhancing it)… Orange is pretty spot on, but Grape tastes just like all the other Grape flavored “water enhancers”

  3. A better question would be “Is there any fruit Ocean Spray won’t combine with high fructose corn syrup?”.

    1. Hopefully they won’t try any tomato/HFCS blends. I mean, that can work, but they should probably leave it up to Heinz…

  4. The liquid water enchancers trend is being taking over! It getting too much! OH THE HORROR!

The lemon marshmallows sounds so good I have an idea! Why not plop lemon pudding in a graham cracker crust then melt the marshmallows spread it on top then broil for few seconds.

    Ocean Spray- COME ON! BORING!

Bon Appetit meals- It might be a train wreck who knows? Remember Joy of cooking frozen meals it seemed that they popped on the shelves then got discontinued in few months.

Shreddies-Those sound good but it a cereal BORIGN!

  5. Oh, I really hope I can get those lemon marshmallows here in Mid-America. It’s okay to eat a whole bag of marshmallows because they’re mostly air, right? And lemon has vitamin C, so they’d practically be health food.

  6. Coco Orange Shreddies are nothing compared to the Diamond Shreddies we had in Canada a few years ago.

  7. Anyone know who the maker of the ICEE version liquid enhancer is? Can’t seem to find it in my area (VA)
