Definitely some tenuous ingredient definitions in that sports drink article.
I hate the artificial sweeteners and also the ever-present stevia and monkfruit. So whenever I’ve tried modern sports drinks, I’ve never wanted to repeat the experience. So switching from regular calorie-laden sugars lost me as a potential customer.
Nomeatathlete.com has a recipe for making your own sports drink, based on fruit juice, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and salt. He claims to have perfected a recipe in particular that tastes like the old grape Gatorade… It’s called switchel and apparently it was an old-timey farmers’ recipe to stay hydrated out in the fields.
